NCAA Lacrosse National Championship

Anyone watch today's game between top seeded Hopkins and second seeded Viriginia? It was an excellant game, with Virginia coming out on top, 9-7 I believe.

As a lacrosse goalie myself (among the other positions I play biggrin: ), I have to say Tillman Johnson is among the best I've ever seen, second to Princeton's goalie of a few years ago (shit.. can't remember his name.. he was the coach's sun..). His aerobatic style and intensity is amazing, and very fun to watch.

I was rooting for Syracuse all the way, as I personally know a longstick middie on the team (went to the same HS as me), but if anyone else had to win I wanted it to be Virginia.

I do have to say though, Hopkins did deserve a win. They won almost every ground ball and showed intensity and hustle through every quarter. If Christmas hadn't scored that 9th goal in the 4th then there might be a different national champion right now.. Hopkins seemed to do everything but beat the Virginia defense and goalie.

The field was so muddy today, but it made for good action.

descry 05-26-2003 07:19 PM

oOo:
The Toronto Rock have lost about 3 games in the past 50 years, and they play against Canadian/American Pro. teams.

Milla 05-26-2003 07:20 PM

LOL indoor lacrosse is gay dude, outdoor lacrosse is so much better. Long Island Lizards are the best team.

descry 05-26-2003 07:38 PM

What? Toronto Rock are the best team? Ya i think so to.

Milla 05-26-2003 07:40 PM

At indoor maybe, but not outdoor, Casey powell ownz them

Chronic Diarrhea 05-27-2003 04:23 PM

What the hell is lacrosse? Never heard of it.

Argon 05-27-2003 04:36 PM

Lacrosse Rocks!!! Played 4 years of College (Small Div.3 School in New England) and two years in High School. Indoor Lacrosse is fun too, off-season I used to do some recreational leagues, really fun stuff and great exercise. I was cool cause we I used to play with some of the semi-pros from the Boston Blazers. Met the Paul and Gary Gait a few times, really cool guys.

Unfortunately I blew out my ACL in a Mountain Biking accident several years ago and never got it fixed, so my Lacrosse days are over (Actually just about any sport that requires running I can't play).

I usually watch the Lacrosse finals, but this year I haven't watched them.

Milla 05-27-2003 04:51 PM

The Gait brothers are awesome, So are the Powell brothers. Also awhile ago before he started playing lacrosse when he played QB in football i met AJ Haugen, he was a cool guy.

Chronic Diarrhea 05-27-2003 07:09 PM

So it's like field hockey or something like that?

Pyro 05-27-2003 07:30 PM

toronto rock destroyed Garry gait of colorado ed:

they other gait still plays?...anyways...even the top scorer can't beat the rock

Ferich 05-27-2003 07:34 PM

Heh..Canada vs USA is funny...Anyways, Lacrosse is fun I played in High School but quit so I could keep up Hockey in College, ..which is now.

I remember playing in High School and always getting huge fucking bumps on my legs from some twat and that nailed me with his stick in the shins.

Milla 05-27-2003 07:44 PM

Yeah man, i hate the part where your elbow pads stop and you shoulder pads stop, and leave that little bit of exposed skin showing, so when you have the ball trying to fend off the other team they just hack the fuck away at that one little spot. I use to come home with some of the nastiest bruises. But damn...i love this sport.

Ferich 05-27-2003 07:47 PM

Yeah, I loved it too. I still play with some of the University of Minnesota fellahs whenever they're out fucking around, but Hockey is my college sport now...

High School refs are some of the most retarded people ever. You get like 2 minutes for accidently dry humping someone, or nudging someone. But whenever they weren't looking I'd twirl my stick around like a mace, hah. Good times.

Milla 05-27-2003 07:51 PM

LOL! at practice we use to have swoard fights with the sticks, good times. I play hockey now mostly also. But theres just something about lacrosse that appeals to me more, it sucks my HS doesnt have a lax team.

Ferich 05-27-2003 07:54 PM

Well, a lot of Organizations can sponser a Club at your High School to start lacrosse. The team won't be a "School" team neccesarily, but it will be more of a club. Since I went to High School in Pennsylvania ( College in Minnesota ) the PIAA ( An acronym which I forget what it means, but it's something with sports ) started a club for Lacrosse at our school and it was great, besides the homophobic refs that disbanded " dry humping."

Milla 05-27-2003 07:57 PM

Well see, i use to play for James monroe (the other HS in the area) it was a club sport, but my HS just now started a lax team but we got 2 weeks left of school than im gone to basic training, so i kinda lost out. Hopefully ill play in college.

Unknown_Sniper 05-27-2003 07:58 PM

I wish I had played LAX this year. Ive never played before but ive messed around with a lax stick and trying to throw some balls. It was fun. Instead I did track to get in shape hake: I hate myself sometimes. My schools LAX teams was the NH State champs thoguh so there kinda tough

Milla 05-27-2003 07:59 PM

When i played on James monroe we had to play North stafford which is the best team in the state, and the region, but we lost to them by 1 goal, that was a brutal brutal game, we put one of theirs in the hospital, it was muddy, a damn mess.

Unknown_Sniper 05-27-2003 08:10 PM

b/c thats what shins do when they get hit. They burst open. the ydont go inward. I saw some small kid at my school take a ball to the face. RIght in his jaw. It sounded so gross. He wasnt hurt too bad b/c it wasnt a really hard throw but still it knowcked him flat on his back.
