Well being a life long die hard chicago whitesox fan, this has made my day. Better yet, my YEAR. i always knew something was fishy with "slammin sammy" . Hell, the sox had him in 89, he was horrible. Then a few yrs later he goes from a mediocre suck ass strikeout hitter to absolutely cranking the ball. well, cubs fans, your slammin sosa has finally revealed his source of power. corked bats....to think, that whole year battling mcguire for the home run race....no its all shit. its especially funny because the cubs are actually doing great so far this year, but something always happens LOL. cubs suck, they will always suck. how many outs now sammy? hake:

I dont thik sammy's been using cork bats his entire power hitting career. He's broken bats before, ive seen them, and they havent been corked. Hes going to say that the bat was indeed corked, and that he used it during a homerun hitting exhibition, and it was accidentally mixxed in with the game bats. I dont know what to think right now actually....

im sure they did many tests on the bats when he was in the home run race. i think it was just a recent thing.

Erm..the Red Sox aren't in the NL Central.

the corked bat doesnt help him connect with the ball. It might help his distance a little but he's still got to connect with some ferocity. It's not much of a help if you ask me.

actually, a corked bat makes it lighter and easier to swing with more of a bang. I would say he gets a 3 game suspension max, just because he is sammy sosa

well ya but still it takes amazing hand eye coordination to be able to swing the bat so it connects cleanly with the ball. The cork will definately help getting it out of the park though. What a crock

He immediately took responsibility for the bat being his. He says that he has used it for BP which impresses the fans. It got mixed with his regular bats and he accidently grabbed it.

I guarantee you, Sammy has not been using corked bats this whole time. He would've been busted by now. Second, I think it was an honest mistake, when you watch the replay the bat shatters, Sammy tosses the bat aside and is called out at first. Not the actions that someone would take if they knew they had just shattered a corked bat. He would've held onto the handle, and once thrown out, immediately grabbed the barrel of the bat and ran to the dughouse. He didn't do that, he just left it out there. Telling me he had no idea.

Finally, they have grabbed all his bats from the game and are going to examine them. If he has no others, then his story rings true. He made a mistake grabbing bats...no more.

The home run race was real, Sammy's numbers are real. What we have here is just another White Sux fan being pissy about giving Sammy up for nothing.

MLB took 76 of Sosa's bats last night, and not one of them had been doctored in any way. The guy made an honest mistake, and has owned up to it. Time to move on.

Right. Keep living in your dream world. If you listened to the press conference today the MLB Official said there were at least 2 full innings that went by before security and MLB personel reached the clubhouse to seize and confiscate these 76 bats. That would hardly be enough time to get rid of any other corked bats right? hake: Also, It is completely obvious that Scammin Sammy has been taking illegal performance enhancers throughout his career. His numbers reflect this. from 89-93 he was horseshit, a scrawny, tiny little suck ass player. Then he bulked up and starting amassing incredible (unbelievable to come from such a previously sucky player) numbers.

Secondly, he had just come off the DL and is having a crappy season so far. Instead of going down to the minors for a rehab assignment (derek jeter and nomar garciaparra have no problem doing this) Scammin sammy does not, and he suffers for it because he is rusty from being injured. he didnt want to bruise his monster ego by taking a minor league assignment. so, what do we have then. a struggling superstar who is growing desperate to produce numbers. he is coming off an injury so he needs something extra to get it going. he reaches for corky to help him with his bat speed, you know a little edge until he regains his stroke back. does this sound more feasible than his lame "i grabbed the wrong bat" excuse? did you listen to dusty baker speak about this? he said that he doesnt know what to think, and that maybe sammy didnt tell the truth. hake: nope cubs fans are so blinded by their idiotic "bleeding cubby blue" that they will give sammy corksa a standing ovation eek: LOL can we say nieve? happy:
