Racism
 

I'm not racist or anything...but dones' tit seem like in school or something...that if any white makes a racist comment they get in a lot of shit...but if a brown or black makes one about whites...it's not racist or anything

like people complain that theres no black people in the show friends...but no one complains about pure black coloured people shows.

It's just what I've noticed in my school anyway.

Just seems unfair...the world has changed...why give a double standard just ebcause of a past that we wer enever involved in.

Yes you are correct though, this double standard exists everywhere. Jimmy Carter established affirmative action to compensate for the way blacks were treated in the past.

This double standard is a sad thing to see. As long as people still live in the past and never give up what happened, then there will always be racism, or, at the very least, this double standard that we speak of. It is saddening, but that's the world we live in.

Black people dodn't enslave white people for over 300 years guys.

This is an intricate issue. I think just let it go. It may be a gradualist approach, but the only thing you can really do is wait it out. I can see whats going on, and things will change, IMO.

It has only been like 40 years since segregation existed....Most of the people from the black civil rights movement are still alive. I think that's where alot of the problems are.....

i agree but in my school its asians. Asian gangs go around beating up white people because they have nothing better to do. If you are white however, and even make eye contact they think your a racist fuck and then get their 40 friends after you. It's really sad but thats how it is, just a select few people who start the trouble. This is why there are so many people against our Immigration laws because of "increase in crime", which is totally untrue.

I've heard that Asians up there were nuts. Total opposite down here. They're fucking passive. Hell, I nearly hit two Korean dudes in my car today and they apologised to me for getting my way, when it was clearly my fault.

You know why there is affirmative action? because there still are racists. Until there is no racism or racial preferencing, there is no affirmative action

man i cant beleive that...i wish that was how it was. Some guy in my school got into a fight with an asian a few weeks ago, and after he kicked the shit out of the asian punk, the asians friends ran the guy over in their car. They backed up over him again and he died. They just arrested two asians a few days ago and are charging them with manslaughter. The funny thing is, i can remember when it wasnt this bad, only 3 years ago. hake:

Pyro: you mean the black shows that are produced by white people? and even those "pure black" shows have more white people on it then friends have black people

Chronic: Is it a double standard when I get followed around in a store because they think i'll steal something when some white guy that isn't being followed steals something and gets away with it? Then again why should I ask you, you're the one that made a thread and blamed societies problems on black culture.

I don't really know about racism in schools today. but I have to say that I have yet to meet a person that is not a racist to some extent. We all seem to need to catergerize people by how they are differnt the our group of people. The problem is that we all want our group of people to be above the other groups, so we tend to find ways to demean their position...

in my real life i don't react to people being black or white or asian or whatever, they're all people

I know what you mean Chango...if a white person like walked into a store they probably wouldn't even care, but if a black person did, they would probably suspect them to be a criminal of some sorts

but some (not all) try to dress like the gangs around...you can't expect not to be looked at.

Neither did I. Neither did my parents. Neither did their parent's before them. Saying that things like Affirmative Action are to "make up" for what white people have historically done to minorities is a crock.

We often forget that Segregation lasted up until the 60s. Most of us weren't around back then (myself included) but we've go to realize that was only 40 years ago. 40 years ago, most of us wouldn't have went to school with minorities at all. In the grand scheme, thats not very long at all.

Programs like Affirmative Action are necessary for that reason. Once you young bucks(like I'm old and mature biggrin: ) get out into the real world and realize how "white" everything is, you'll start to understand more. When I was in High School, I was sooooo against Affirmative Action. But now that I've been in the job market for some time and made some real world observations, I think its fair.

funny thing is I don't even dress like i'm in a gang, but I was followed anyway, and that white guy I was talking about was someone that I saw steal something (he put a DVD in his pocket and i'm pretty sure he didn't pay for it) but the employee following didn't notice (or chose not to.) But the next time I was in the store I saw the same guy and he put something else in his pocket and I pointed him out to the employee and needless to say the guy got caught.

This is what I was trying to say. It was ONLY 40 years ago that Black people were being openly mistreated. The people that fought that, mostly black students.....(SNCC, etc) are only coming into their 60's now. They are the influence of the youth at the moment, and for the last few decades, so you can imagine what they think of society.....

Ive never heard( or seen or even though of) of asians beating up ppl in this country. I would never let an asian beat me down unless he knew karate or something.

I was going to write and article at school about the true meaning of the Confederate Fkag for the newspaper, but the stupid teacher is such a spinelss coward that she was afraid to offend somebody in an all white,oh yea there are asians and mexicans, school, of 250 kids k-12. When I asked her who it would offend she said, It would offend her, ha what a stupid awnser. Even if there were Blacks I would still write it, becuase the way the CSA and the FLag is presented is that they where all racsist and that the North saved the black people from a life of slavery, how stupid. Racsists on any side are stupid, from the KKK to the Panthers there all idiots.

I feel more comfortable in a room full of White people, than I do in a room full of Black people.

in peterborough blacks are rare. its not like we boot them out of the county if one wanders in its just their arent many, like in my school of 1200 their are 3 blacks. Out here the koreans are nice though. i work at a bulk store where all the koreans come into to buy their shit for their stores. most of the time its very hard to understand them but they are really nice, funny people. some you cant understand a thing they say all i say is "sorry but i cant undertsand what your saying" & they laugh & just walk around the store & point to the things they want. their really nice people the ones iv met.

Its not a thing because black people are black its some of the things they do

Did I ever say you were a racist? If I thought you were a racist, I would've said it out right. You're jumping to conclusions, all I said was that you made a thread blaming societies problems on "African-American culture" (as you said in your thread.) I read your thread, I fully understood what you were getting at, but the way you wrote it shows either you have very limited of knowledge of the past or you tend to not think everything through (If you think about it the internet has had much more of an impact then rap every could.) It's nice that you decided to respond to my post this time, since you completely ignored me on the other one.

where do you live? The gangs in calgary are not that bad compared to cities like Vancouver and Toronto. People get beaten up at my school everday and about once a week i hear of someone being stabbed. The only fatality has been that poor guy who got owned by the ricer

You folks know NOTHING about gangs till you come to the States.

My first week in High School there was a gang fight between an Blood and a Crip. The crip was JUST out of prison, the blood a simple school kid. The blood was sadly stabbed multiple times, and hasn't been the same since.

A gun was found on Freshman Campus, discharged. The culpirt never found.

The next week a poor white guy had his head smashed in on the pavement by a huge Samoan monster. This was virtually in front of the principals office.

My English Teacher had her drink poisoned with bleach. I guess someone reacted badly to their poor grade.

Etc, etc.

That was then, this is now Ed. I've never heard of that stuff happening anymore, at least not where I live......
