will RocketGuy make it???

Thre is this man, Brian Walker, a.k.a. Rocket Guy, who is building a homemade rocket to launch himself into space. Seriously, although he means well, I honerstly think that something will go wrong and that he will die somehow in his homemade rocket. Either his rocket will break up, and then he will lose consciousness and crash to the earth, or he will be blown to bits somehow....

god speed....

here's his website: [url:14073]http://www.rocketguy.com[/url:14073]

Pyro 06-17-2003 10:43 AM

it'll never work

con Brio 06-17-2003 10:44 AM

or maybe instead of falling back to earth, he somehow keeps going into space, where he has no oxygen to breathe, then dies.....

he is so gonna die oOo:

06-17-2003 10:55 AM

in the words of Col. Jack O'Neill (USAF) "this plan sucks"

06-17-2003 10:56 AM

the question is not "if he will die", but "how will he die?". i cant wait to see this

Vote Die.

That guy needs to pray like crazy to survive this, or maybe pray for some wisdom so that he will get the sense not to do this. This guy is nuts. hake:

cashwarsplaya 06-17-2003 03:26 PM

wouldnt it be so cool if he made it though?

Uhh lets leave this discussion in the right thread. :)

I emalied the dude and got a response today, I told him I would be praying for Him, and that he was a brave man. He told me thanks for the paryers and that he would see how brave he is when it comes launch time. :)

he either wusses out or he gets blow to hell(figurativly speaking). But you never know he might make it...and keep going....and going and goin liek hte energizer bunny

ninty 06-17-2003 08:00 PM

I saw him on Daily Planet. Isn't he from Vancouver?

cashwarsplaya 06-17-2003 08:05 PM

after reading his plan, he cant possibly continue into space. The thing either blows up as ignition lights, goes up and then comes down... hard or works. Theres no way he can continue with the fuel he plans on using and the amount that he will have. I dont know if it would generate enough force to truly leave the earth's atmosphere. He also has a parachute, imagine jumping from 50 miles up, that would be one long freefall. Actually, didnt some guy do that in the 60's, first man outside of the atmosphere or something, rode up in a balloon and jumped? I saw footage of it on the discovery channel i think.

Old Reliable 06-17-2003 08:07 PM

there must be some type of law against this, as government employees are allowed into space. a law must be enacted so people don't try such crazy ideas and get themselves killed

ninty 06-17-2003 08:07 PM

Yeah a guy jumped from a balloon around the outter edge of our atmosphere. He free-fell for something like 12 minutes if memory serves.

he'll probably forget to file a flight plan and get shot down by some F-15s or the new NMD system (which will probably actually work by the time his rocket's done)

...... hake: ....ugh

T.Hunter 06-18-2003 12:43 AM

he'll blow up just like the space shuttle

Office Depot 06-18-2003 12:46 AM

lol what a dumbass. hopefully he burns up and dies, then he'll serve as a warning to other dumbasses who want to build their own rocket and shoot themself into space.

Tripper 06-18-2003 03:06 AM

I hope he does it. Would add something interesting to his otherwise boring life.

SoLiDUS 06-18-2003 03:19 AM

I'm a believer: he'll make it to 50 miles up and come down safely... unless
he doesn't plan everything meticulously, in which case he risks certain death.
Still, I believe...

As Mulder's poster says: I WANT TO BELIEVE. happy:

Eight Ace 06-18-2003 04:01 AM

"The ultimate goal is to go straight up 50 miles. There are no plans for orbit, just to fulfill the childhood dream of a private citizen.
Orbit requires going at least 170 miles up and going 17,000 MPH around the earth.."

...oh for crying out loud hake: ....of course he'll do it...if his absolute mastery of zero-grav,
hover-vehicles and ...erm, Hydro Subs is any indication...this latest venture will be a
"piece of piss" in any mans language.

Bazooka_Joe 06-18-2003 10:18 AM

Somehow, I can't see this happening flawlessly.
