I No Longer Like Metallica

I have now lost all respect for them.

Making a surprise guest appearance at the Download Festival, despite Limp Bizkit pulling out as main act for day 2, which could easily have been filled by metallica and made the sunday worthwhile for 50,000 fans including myself, instead of a plucky 8,000 who crammed into the scuzz tent.

Ruining Napster for everybody.

St.Anger album having not one guitar solo on despite them telling us the album is going to be like good old metallica stuff. they may aswell have called their album St.Slipknot.

Selling out to f*cking kids by appearing on CD:UK a few weeks back. Now fair enough i watch it for Cat Deeley, but metallica do not belong on a kiddies music show along side pop music.

They now officially have their heads so far up their arses that those lumps in their throats could be their noses.

I am but one ex-metallica fan, and arnt set out to flame metallica or anything, but let it be known, the albums i own of theirs will be returned to the shops and i'll download them all off the net just to despite their views on file sharing.
Screw them.

rant over.

Ferich 07-11-2003 07:09 PM

Shit, if I was a Rockstar I'd sell out so much.

Do you have any idea how much money you get?

But I hear ya', though. I've hated Metallica, well, forever.
But I understand where you're coming from, just about the samething happened to me with a lot of bands, so I just am a lot more picky about the music I listen to now.

MrLevinstein 07-11-2003 07:11 PM

I'm still a huge fan of pre-black ablum cd's. It's without a doubt the best metal I've ever heard. But I LOATHE the day bob rock was hired and tried to "fix" metallica. Lars sounded like shit kirk is only riffing now and every song is drop tuned and sounds like ass. They've lost it and now are just another great metal band turned to shit. Theres always Megadeth if you like that genre

07-11-2003 07:12 PM

good reasons bunny, no flames here. they are so "angry" that they pose for childrens magazines.

07-11-2003 07:50 PM

errr damn sell outs i am really worryed about System of a down there on the virge of selling out

Captain Bunny 07-11-2003 07:53 PM

Slipknot or the murderdolls, or some wierd crappy band along those lines appeared in J17. the mag for 17 year old girlies.

descry 07-11-2003 08:14 PM

Pyro 07-11-2003 09:07 PM

[quote:4a703]Ruining Napster for everybody.[/quote:4a703]

I cursed the day Napster forced people to pay, and if you pay to download a song, then the terrorists have won.

But seriously, does he really need more money?

Ydiss 07-11-2003 09:38 PM

I lost all interest in them around about the time they tried to ban me from Napster for downloading half of a song.

And I didn't even like it, lol.

Wankers.

Simo Häyhä 07-12-2003 02:47 AM

yeah napster was the prime reason i lost all respect for them.

Infernal_ 07-12-2003 04:01 AM

well, i havent listened to st. anger and i dont plan on it. i have every CD they have made besides st. anger and teh singles. i recently saw them live in toronto. they were AMAIZING and played only two st. anger songs.

i think kirk has lost his magical tough to his guitar :( in the concert they cut soe solos short for him adn james did alot of em also. its most likely something with james going through rehab because i think he lost his metal edge. but with there loss to cliff and they kept playing that is what to respect them for not because they "sold out" il always like old school metallica. as for the newer i dono. i miss the solos and i think kill em' all was there best CD they have ever made and there 1st.

just my oppinion

Nah, you're entitled to your opinion. I love St. Anger. I think it's the coolest shit they've done since "...Justice".

You can hate it...I'm not gonna soak my panties because you don't like something I do.

Zoner 07-13-2003 11:14 AM

Don't you? heh heh

I've said too much.

McCoy 03 07-13-2003 12:29 PM

I've never really listened to Metallica...but I keep hearing people hate this new album...a while back I also saw something about using a song for torture? I've also seen a pic of a furby wearing headphones smoking a cigarette, or cigar, and it says save this furby before it's too late, he's listening to Metallica's new St. Anger cd.

freak:

So, why is it bad?

Unknown_Sniper 07-13-2003 01:51 PM

Im not a metalica fan so I dont really care for them. But if I did have to say something about St. Anger, its probably the worst song I have heard from them.

Infernal_ 07-14-2003 07:27 AM

ive listened to like 3 metallica CDs every single day after i saw them live i mean i liked them befre but now............even more somehow lol.
i even started learning guitar again because i wanted to play some solos lol all i play is one and sanitarium. speaking of metallica live i wonder how joe made out when he went, if he went yet.

Zoner 07-14-2003 08:04 AM

I rocked the "St. Anger" CD on my way to work this morning...again. Still loving it.

Got some weird looks at stop lights, lemme tell ya. I was tapping along with the double bass hits from "St. Anger" on my steering wheel and some old dude in A Volvo rolled up his window...haw!

Bazooka_Joe 07-16-2003 09:12 AM

The only true disappointment I see in them so far, is that they are making a Metallica video game. That's just a little too much. I mean, look at how well KISS: Psycho Circus did! heh

Anyways, the new CD is pretty good, and yes, there are no good guitar solos, but METALLICA never said it would be like their old stuff, the critics did. Lars said that this was something totally different for the band, and they've never approached heavey metal like this before.

I saw them at DFP7 (Summer Sanatarium) and they were great. Sorry to hear you don't like them anymore, man.

well, there are about 4 songs i like on the new cd, i think they could've dont better, but ya know, and all of you guys talking about selling out, who cares?! i would sell out and get rich too....

snipeymagoo 07-16-2003 10:03 AM

EDIT:, some kind of monster is the best song on the cd, that song owns

Zoner 07-16-2003 10:24 AM

Yup!

I think my fave is "Sweet Amber", but "Shoot Me Again" is growing on me big time. The end of that song is friggin' heavy.

That's me on the way home from work everyday in my 91 Ford Escort GT, heh I got the Nomad Jukebox, 6GB storage, with like 690 songs, and I think about 40 are Metallica. I just blast And Justic For All, Blackened, Am I Evil, Battery, Shortest Straw, Die Die Die My Darling, Enter Sandman; you name it man heh.

I swear, one day a guy in a cab gave me the Devil's Horns, and he got em right back!
