How many thinks Medal of Honor: Allied Assault will beat the sales figure of Return to castle Wolfenstein?

If you don't like this question, well then please say if you enjoy RtcW or MoH:AA more, thanks for playing~

My vote goes to Allied Assault (I played both demos and this is my conclusion. Personal opinion though)

Allied Assault fully, it just has more realizm but RTCW has its history on its side. So it is sketchy.

Bah, Wolfenstein 3d, that was a good game. I would really like to see BJ eat some dog food in a jail cell a few more times.

There's already more ppl playing the demo of MoH than there are playing the full release of Wolf. It'll be right up there or surpass Counterstrike in popularity. I cast my vote for MoH by a landslide =]

I have no doubt that MoHAA will sell quite well but then again I doubt it if MoHAA will outsell RtCW. I hope it does though.

Geo 01-17-2002 10:10 AM

I thinks if retailers don't price gouge (charge above the MSRP price) on MoH then it has a good shot to eventually sell as well or better than Wolfy. Wolfenstein was going as much as $20 above the $49.99 retail which I always thought was outrageous. Hopefully retailers won't do that with MoH. If they do, they'll have to answer to my Thompson. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Well according to gamespy arcade, there's 272 playing wolf right now and almost 1300 playing MoH demo. Do wolfy players play somewhere else other than gamespy? I am just going by what my gamespit stats say =]

Dodd 01-17-2002 10:48 AM

I think MOH:AA will sell more than RTCW did it's first month of release. The rating of MOH:AA, I think, will be the factor between both games. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif

Anyway half of you probably haven't played RTCW.

To answer the poll though, I really don't know. I think RTCW would be a better multiplayer because it has better options, already and its fun. But MoH is going to kick ass in single player!

I played mostly the single player so here's why I hate Wolfenstein:

A. It steals 1,000,000,000,000 ideas from NOLF
B. It does a very sucky job of stealing ideas from NOLF.
C. The plot sucks.
D. Too many warehouses with boxes, and too little color. It's always grey, brown, dark blue, and black.
E. You don't do anything interesting in the levels.
F. The "Kobra" is actually called the "Natter".
G. The M1 Garand is a sniper rifle with night vision.
H. THE M1 GARAND IS A SNIPER RIFLE WITH NIGHT VISION!
I. It cost 60 motherfucking dollars!! WHAT THE FUCK?!!?
J. Caslte Wolfenstein was designed by a three year old.

Well, that's it, but there's more. I just don't feel like going into detail. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

I think MOH is by far a much better game, but unfortunately Quake heads have been jumping on the RTCW wagon. I hope MOH does better because it far more original than RTCW (which I feel was just a rehash of games past).

Hmm it's a toughy, I will say MOH by a whisper.

I believe in the RTCW forums would have said totally differnet things.....

But I stil hope MOH:AA sells well!

Wolfenstein Players:
6681 players
MoH Players:
1956 players

These are pretty bad numbers for MoH (sadly).

Don't compare the player numbers now. MOH:AA is only a demo right now. Let's see in about a month or so. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif

It'll take some time to catch up to RTCW, but I believe the MP aspect of RTCW can come close to those RTCW numbers. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

spiewalk 01-18-2002 03:13 AM

RTCW is $72 canadian, thats a low price too so I wonder how much MOH-AA is going to be, canadian?

This will be the game of the year but the release date was a little late

Robot Giant Robo 01-18-2002 03:27 AM

I gotta agree, RTCW will probably be more popular. RTCW is a sequel to a landmark game. MOH series is a well known FPS on the console, but console FPS games were never too big. I do like MOHAA better, but personally, I'd be pretty happy if most of the "1337" players played RTCW instead. I think most of those players went to play Q3 while I stuck with UT http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif.

As a comparison, |Robot|Gus once said, "RTCW is like a cartoon of WW2, MOHAA is like an artistic rendition." I just said that RTCW is like Team Fortress, MOHAA is like Counter Strike...

Both games are based in the same era, but the gameplay in both is still very different. I think most gamers would like RTCW's gameplay more.

Recycled Spooge 01-18-2002 04:36 AM

Oh come on, of course MOH will do worse. First off, Wolfenstein is well... Wolfenstein. Second, the game has blood. Third, a lot of people HATED the Stalingrad multiplyer demo. Fourth, the game has a "wussy" name, "Medal of Honor". Fifth, the box of the game will be smaller than Wolfenstein's. Sixth, MOH has "worse" graphics. Seventh, it's already out as warez.

I have more but I'm too lazy to write. But considering that I hate Wolfenstein, we should think more like an average gamer and then we will see who the winner is, as I just demonstrated.

RTCW has its own multiplayer interface built in so most people probably use that. There are a lot more RTCW servers than MOHAA demo servers. RTCW is fun multiplayer even if it is not very realistic but it may be tough for MOHAA to outsell a game that has already sold over a million copies worldwide.

I think MOHAA will have a better following compared to RTCW. RTCW is too much quake like especially with the bunny hops. After I played MOHAA demo I havent gone back to RTCW because of the sheer fun factor. But hey thats my opinion. I dont think it will beat the sales of RTCW though, because not a lot of people will have the system to run the game smoothly. Anyway, I just hope we have quality players compared to quantity.

[ + ]COL. KILGORE 01-19-2002 12:06 AM

Both games are good!

RTCW steals from NOLF??? WTF??? That's an absurd accusation considering every game steals from the games preceeding that one!

The colors in RTCW are grey, black, dark brown, etc...? What?? RTCW has many, many exteriors. The greens of the forest level. The whites of the snow areas. The dim orange of the torch lights in many areas.

I have never played a game as much as I have played RTCW with regards also to multiplayer. I have played MP so much, I have become an excellent sniper. Hopefully my skill will carry over to MOH, which I am looking forward to immensely...

KangSa 01-19-2002 12:27 AM

I bought RTCW cos i was looking for something more then the UT Tactical Team battle Mod's.
I must say RTCW can be put in the same dir when it come's to that.
It feels and looks like a wel done Quake3 mod, wile MOH feels/looks like a complete new game.

Another plus for MOH is the communication players have in game, with RTCW there's non, cos every one is trying to beat the top player with frags.
With MOH i got the feeling i didnt have to perform to great, im just playing for the team, and thats what Team Based Tactical Shooters is all about.

MOH will for sure out sell RTCW, cos MOH lives up to the hype, and RTCW doesnt.
