gun care tips
 

i figuered since most of you are american you people should be able to help me out with this question evil: . anyways my beretta is black & its become very fadded, what would be the best way to restore it to its old shine? also the ppk, it is in real need of oil, what kind do i use?

sandblast the old paint off and have a new coat applied i guess

It's only a pellet gun? If thats the case, i wouldn't worry much about it. Just get yourself some light gun oil and put a few drops on a silicone rag and wipe the gun down.
Oh, and another thing....what does being American have anything to do with your question?

What i use in case of re bluing is.. Birchwood casey™ makes a great cold bluing kit..

The kit has a degreaser, bluing remover and perma blue re bluer..
Depending how bad the wear is.. id just use the perma blue™ applied with a cotton ball.. it smells like shit and it will burn your fingers if it come in contact with your skin.. so wear gloves

If the most of the fininsh is gone.. and you want to do the whole thing.. start with the bluing remover.. then the degreaser, follwed up with the perma blue™ then a BWC silicone cloth.

The longer you let the perma blue™ sit and more aplications you put on.. the darker it becomes. The name says "Blue" but its more of the gun metal blue/black. I use it for touch ups for restoring minor wear. It works perfect.

You can find the Birchwood casey™ kit at any BIG 5 or off of BWC's site..

And NO don't "sand blast" your pistol if you want to keep it's value..
Only if you have the resaurces. "bead blasting" is whats used to get down to the raw material. But not even nessacery. The blue remover will work.

im actully more concerened on what type of oil to use on the walther. the beretta looks like its been trough a war or something. i like it :D

Rem-oil is a good one

They sell gun oil and rags at pretty much all gun stores and clothes as well. Pick youself up a set.

get some hoppes and put it on a rad and rub it on the gun for a while and when ur done take a clean rag and whipe of the left over cleaner, i did that with my mosin nagant 44''m44'' and it really made it look nice.......if u never new this u are stupid becasue im 12 and how old are u?????

learning gun safety at an early age can make you a more mature person when around guns. it works and i have seen it

I was a marksman on the Livonia Rifle team (near Detroit) when I was 12. It is legal to hunt at that age. Hunting is very big around here and it with guns are part of our heritage. It is not the kids that are taught the correct way to handle guns that I worry about, its the ones that never see them and are curious, they are the ones to worry about. I learned to shoot way before my 12th birthday and plan on teaching my kids before then too.

If you are going to keep guns in the house, the safest thing to do it to teach everyone in the house how to handle them properly.

Ya know what? Me and my dad would go into our back yard and he would teach me how to shoot a scoped .22 calibre rifle when i was wround 9 or 10, back then that gun was far to heavy for my little arms to hold so he would hold the gun while i sat behind it and scoped and fired it, some of my fondest memories with my father I wouldnt trade them for the world. Yes guns can be used to bad shit but they can also be used to bond father and son or daughter and father in stack ems case. OMG AMERICANS ARE ALOUD TO HAVE GUNS. THAT MUST BE WHY THEY HAVE CRIME. I completely agree.. My father taught my brother and i how to shoot, the proper respect, care and knowledge of firearms about 9-10 years old.
We have grown up with firearms all our lives.. I remeber the first pistol i shot was a Black powder Cap n Ball Walker .44.. heh.. my dad was holding my arms standing behind me.. i was hooked. biggrin:
Those are the best memories i have with him. Going camping, fishing, shooting, buliding models etc ..

When a parent installs the proper care at a young age.. Kids aren't SOOOO fascinated and amazed by firearms when they are around them..They know what they are, they know what they can do,, and they learn to respect them..

I remember going to my friends house (about 13 years old) who's dad also had firearms.. We were looking at his collection.. and if anything i said "cool.. eh mine and my dads are better".. And went on my merry way..

Im 27 and i have NEVER had any problems concering any fiream that i own... Simply because i have been educated in them from a very early age.
