Does anybody know whats the difference between sourround and 4-Speaker under options/sound ??
whats the right setting for an audigy with a 5.1 system? thanks tanzania |
why does it matter?
|
Even though I have an Audigy but no 5.1 speakers, you'd want to set up yours with surround. You WON'T be disappointed.

headphones give the best 3d sound.

I bought a cheap pair once and they were so tinny I couldn't stand it. I ended up throwing them out. ------------------ http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/MOHsig4.jpg Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife I'd put poison in your coffee." my sony mdr 700's range is 5hz-30khz. you can get them for 100-150 deending on where you get them.
Very accurate headphones and they can get so loud the bass actually hurt my ear drums http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif. Some people say they are bass heavy but IMO they accurately produce sounds in all ranges. Booming lows, Solid mids, crisp clear highs. One of the best things about my PC setup is those headphones. Combine with an audigy and youll see what i mean http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif [This message has been edited by madrebel (edited January 18, 2002).] |

Whatever you do, make sure it is a Cambridge. I have had my 4 point for one full year and I love them. Awsome sound for a 4 point and it has a great bass. I love playing with them because they offer a great support and it really helps you get in the game, not to mention if you are into a good music system.

Surround Sound doesn't impress me much at all w/ either movies or games. All I care about is hearing the sounds and dodging the bullets. I don't care about hearing the bullets hear whiz past my head, hearing the sound drop is good enough to make me think it (let's just say a bullet) went past my head. All I have is two speakers for my computer, and I am contented.

I recently Purchased a Cambridge Soundworks setup...with 4 satellites and a Subwoofer...DAMN it is loud.....heheehehe
ALAS,Mah poor sound card SUCKS ARSE!!!!!!!!!! /me gets out wallet for new audigy setup.... |
Yeah I bought a Cambridge setup about a year and a half ago, im very happy with them. They are definately worth the extra money.
I just wish I could crank them more, but the next step up from what ive got im looking at about $600 and I just can't justify it. Oh and thanks for the info madrebel, I might have to go and purchase those Sony's. I don't care if they are bass heavy, I like it that way. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/MOHsig4.jpg Lady Astor: "Winston, if I were your wife I'd put poison in your coffee." headphones are better than speakers. at least you can elevate or decrease the volume without any retribution from your neighbors or roommates.

The onlt was to play is with headphones http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

So the surround option is only for gamers with a center channel, right?
Also, what cambridge systems do you guys have? The older fps2000 or something, or the newer inspire systems? I was under the impression that the older generations weren't that great for the price you pay. I could be wrong on that too, and a lot has to do with the person listening. I have a logitech z-560 4.1 400W setup and its *decent* http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif I just need to turn it from 'surround' to '4 speaker' in mohaa options. |
I've got SB! Live and only two speakers...and a headphone from the 70s that works in perfect condition...it's the one my dad recorded all of his songs w/.
|
I have a SBlive 5.1 and Creative fps1600 speakers but I can't get surround sound in MOHAA. It's like I'm playing with 2 speakers. What could be the problem????
|
hehe i always use a Headset..
cause u hear the footsteps better http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ 114th.Raiders back u up! http://koti.mbnet.fi/kivin/raiders/Raidewrs.jpg |

If you heard my Yamaha RXV2092 with 2 Polk RT3000 for my mains 2 RT2000's in the rear a CS400 in the center and two F/X500's for my front surrounds(my reciever is a 7 speaker setup, not 5, it mixes two front surrounds that go above the mains near the ceiling) you would shit your pants and NEVER want to watch a movie anywear else. I HATE goign to theaters because their theater systems are BELOW mine!!! |
Yes, headphones are definitely better at picking up footsteps. Since I got my Audigy the 3-D positional audio is just awesome.
The only thing is I can't hear my fiancee tell me from the other room that she wants to knock off a slice. =) |
