Why are national anthems so serious?

Why does no one have a national anthem like the ice cream man song?

Each country should choose a rock song and make that their anthem. Maybe some some Stones or Hendrix.

1. Showing respect and alligiance for your country is serious.
2. What kind of pussy country would have the ice cream man song as their national anthem? ( I assume your refering to "pop-goes -the weasel") No one could take a world leader or an olympic athelete seriously.
3. While the Stones and Hendrix are cool, I don't think their songs fit the bill for a national anthem. Besides, wouldn't you want the author of your national anthem to be from your own country?

What the fuck is wrong with people these days?

America's national anthem was made by a man who was alive and there during the Revolutionary War. Why the fuck would we just scrap that and take something that has no meaning as to how our country came to be?

Some national theme songs suck balls, they sound cheesy or something. We need some really "proud" songs like the ones in soundtracks made by Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt.

I think the anthem helps other countries show respect for yours.

Like at the leafs-islanders series a few years back...the NY Islanders booed our anthem while we cheered theres.

It just shows who is respectful and whose not. I know Long Island is a piece of shit, if we were playing the Red wings, they would of had respect for us.
