What weapons would you want to carry into combat?
 

Ok, if you had the choice to pick one main weapon and a pistol side arm to carry into battle...what would they be?

If I was going into battle today I'd want a Heckler-Koch HK G36 assault rifle as my main weapon and a classic 1911 colt browning 45 as my sidearm. If I was going into combat after 2008 I'd trade the g36 for an oicw.

urban: M4 Carbine, browning .50 machine gun, two Colt .45 M1911 helmet, armor etc

There's no way you could carry one in real-life. The flying casings would leave you with many injuries, the recoil would break many of your bones and put you flat on your ass, you would only be able to carry enough ammo for a fraction of a second of fire, and it would weigh far too much for anyone to handle.

I dunno, the Germans had the G-11 since the 1970s and adopted the G-36 instead, the Americans looked at the G-11 in early 90s but also decided to stick with conventional ammo.
