moh crashing mid game
i've had moh for a few years now but on some systems (i build a new one every few months)it crashes for no reason it seems to work fine on a ge4mx card but when i use a ge4ti it locks up and scrambles the screen i've currently got a ge4 5600fx 256mb and on this it switches the monitor off..on all occasions the game loads up fine and lets me play for about 5-10 minutes before buggering up..i've tried updating to all the latest drivers done clean installs formatted system and started from scratch its also doing it on different motherboards so i'm sure its something on the cards any ideas?....all systems run winxp and range from an amd 2000 to 2800 and used ati 9200, ge4 5200 ti ge4mx and currently i'm on ge4fx( the only card to work was the mx) amd2800 512mb ddr @400 gigabyte k7 triton with nforce2 .....i've also tried turning all the setting to minimum on the game with no luck ...like i say any help would be appreciated

does it say error or just crash?
|
just crashes no messages no warnings nothing..at the moment on this system the pc is still running but the monitor turns off(the green light goes orange )as if the pc has gone into standby/power save mode but i have to do a hard reset to get it working again
on other systems it just locks the pc up and scrambles the screen different coloured blocks all over it and the sound repeats itself could it be my discs they are original but getting a little tatty i bought it when it first came out and never had a problem its only with newer cards it goes off on one |
most likely will be a problem with your graphics drivers try rolling them back
|
yea its probly your graphics card or it could jsut be your computer name all the stuff you computer has

win xp pro
amd 2800 512mb ddr @400mhz 256mb geforce 5600 fx(driver version 5.3.0.3 tried older drivers as well) 400w power supply gigabyte k7 triton mobo using nforce 2 chipset nvidia on board sound(removed creative 5.1 sound card as i thought that might be clashing with something) 19" monitor running @ 1024x768 and 60hertz refresh rate samsung 160gb hard drive direct x9a (tried 9b still crashes) no other games installed and hardly any other software pc works fine with no problems anywhere its only when i try to run moh as i said it does it on other setups as well the only time it worked properly was with geforce 440mx(kinda pisses me off having a pretty expensive card when a cheap crappy one works better cuss: ) anyway this leads me to think its something on the disc creating a glitch on the install or do you think the mx440 drivers would run the fx5600? |
oh the case has 3 fans built in as well so it should be plenty cool enough.
i've also tried messing with all the moh settings turning evrything down and up just tried turning hardware accelaration down...still crashes tried disabling some direct 3d and open gl stuff...still crashes i've also run 3dmark and had no problems i wouldnt mind so much but i only like playing moh ...looks like i may have to bite the bullet and move onto cod instead |
Try it in safe mode and see what happens. If that doesnt work mabye try to get a little bit earlier version of the driver for ur card, may not sound good but worth a try!
|
safe mode still crashes and looks rubbish, what would happen if i installed my mx drivers from the driver disc i got with the card?
|
ok i think i've tried everything now...installed 44.03 drivers and it still crashes.....gonna buy a new copy of the game after christmas and try that
|

Omg
I have a
P4 3.06 GHZ ASus P4P800 Motherboard 1024 DDR @ 400MHz Creative Live! 5.1 ATI Radeon 9600SE 128MB DDR LG CD x52 LG Burner x52 That's the important stuff here I guess And I have the same problem , the game just stucks without no warning or error window... stucks and the sound stucks as well , you must reset in this case.... I bought this PC a few days ago , and IfI can't play MOHAA I'll just try returning it , it's no use for me.... Can anyone please help my desperate problem...? Thanks Itamar p.s - Maybe some of the cards conflict hence causing this weird freezings... ? |
i finally got mine running something like stable..i removed my ge force fx and put the ati 9600 back in then updated the hell out of everything xp updates direct x updates ati updates mobo updates everything i've also got the side of the case off so it may of been the card overheating i'll let you know what happens when i put it back on and see how the game runs..anyway it still crashes but very rarely maybe after 2 hours or so if ever(its only done it once in a week since i updated everything) so fingers crossed fire2:

Lock Up
The symptoms you describe are very familiar. It seems like you have a heat problem. I bet with the door off you will play without problems. My first indication of a problem like that was after putting in a Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB, I would hear a beep and graphics would mess up. I had a 350 Watt power supply running a well stocked home built.
P4 2.66 GHz / 1 Gig PC2100 Mem / ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256 MB/ 4 hard drives / Plextor CD-RW / Sony DVD DRU 500A DVD-RW -R & +R & CD-RW / Lite-On DVD Player / ATI TV All in wonder & 3 Fans plus USB Scanner and USB Printer. Bumped the power supply up to an Antec 480 Blue and have not seen a hic-up yet. Runs smooth and COD/MOHAA/BF1942 running full bore at highest settings. Don't overload the power supply The Ole Sarge |
