Saddam was held by Kurdish forces, drugged and left for US troops

LONDON, (AFP) - Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) was captured by US troops only after he had been taken prisoner by Kurdish forces, drugged and abandoned ready for American soldiers to recover him, a British Sunday newspaper said.

Saddam came into the hands of the Kurdish Patriotic Front after being betrayed to the group by a member of the al-Jabour tribe, whose daughter had been raped by Saddam's son Uday, leading to a blood feud, reported the Sunday Express, which quoted an unnamed senior British military intelligence officer.

The newspaper said the full story of events leading up to the ousted Iraqi president's capture on December 13 near his hometown of Tikrit in northern Iraq (news - web sites), "exposes the version peddled by American spin doctors as incomplete".

A former Iraqi intelligence officer, whom the Express did not name, told the paper that Saddam was held prisoner by a leader of the Kurdish Patriotic Front, which fought alongside US forces during the Iraq war, until he negotiated a deal.

The deal apparently involved the group gaining political advantage in the region.

An unnamed Western intelligence source in the Middle East told the Express: "Saddam was not captured as a result of any American or British intelligence. We knew that someone would eventually take their revenge, it was just a matter of time."

WHat's with the attitude? I don't give a damn how he was captured, no one should. We should care that he was and now he can't kill thousands of people anymore... It's a good thing no matter how it happened.

TGB! 12-23-2003 06:30 PM

How is this at ALL relevant to the fact that the US found him? Whether he was being held, or was being aided, the fact is US intelligence found the slimy bastard.

Zap. USMC 12-23-2003 06:39 PM

Christ sakes, if thats true how the hell are we supposed to believe anything the admin tell us. I personally dont care about how they caught him, im glad that he is caught. BWTF is the point of taking all of this credit when the info is going to appear later on? Just like the Pvt Lynch fairy tale they originally let out. As for the reward, they said no one will collect it because they supposedly got the intelligence from a bunch of sources.

Your first mistake was believing anything the government said in the first place.

C'mon people, and you think i'm gonna fall for that one? If the Kurds found him 1st, all that would be left would be some DNA evidence. They would've skinned him alive and dragged him through the streets. Saddam had nothing to offer them except a dirt hole next to his. Saddam had no power influence since the start of the war. It's all bullshit if you ask me. He was found due to the intelligence of the US, the Brits, and some of his "own" people who wanted to give him up.

Read "Dude, Where's My Country?" by Michael Moore. The US Government are no more than a pack of liars and criminals at the moment. Lying about finding Saddam is the least of their deceit. annoy:

Yeah, I can't beleive someone actually read what Michael Moore had to say and thinks that it is fact...That's ridiculous. I trust what CNN tells me much more than what that fool says.

I can't remember a time down here where anyone in our government has ever lied without serious consequences against them.

Vance 12-25-2003 06:56 PM

Just because you don't hear about them doesn't mean there aren't lies and cover-ups. That's what cover-ups are meant to do...

Michael Moore is biased, granted, but his views are justified. He doesn't pull facts out of his ass, he researches them. Also, I never said that any Governments around the world wern't Liars. I mean, hell, John Howard's big selling point was that he wouldn't impose a Goods and Services Tax. and what did he do when he was elected? exactly.

But, what i am saying is, there's a difference between lying about a tax, and rigging a democratic election.

As i've said in the past, I have nothing against the American People. It's the Government I disagree with.

catalyst 12-25-2003 07:12 PM

who rigged a democratic election?

lmao!!! Yes, he made the people of MIami Dade county retarded so that they couldn't vote correctly, that's a hoot..

If you're gonna bring that up, what about all of the absentee ballots of the soldiers that were deployed, there was a mix up and a lot of their votes didn't get counted (apparently, they would have added lots of votes for Bush)

Milla 12-26-2003 09:44 PM

I think thats bull shit, just another slap across the US's face annoy:

Art Attack 12-26-2003 10:12 PM

I remember the big ass roit in downtown, that was AWSOME, no bus would go there so we had to walk downtown it was awsome, the protesters threw the mace back at the cops so they brought out a GIANT fan, rofl.
