HELP with my doorknob... seriously...

My sister was turning our doorknob so hard that now her key is stuck in the knob. I've been pulling at this key with all my might and it won't come out. Any ideas, short of actually removing the knob assembly from the doorframe?

catalyst 12-25-2003 10:42 PM

why not just take the whole thing off?

I mean it's not that hard to take off and put back on...

Sergeant_Scrotum 12-25-2003 10:53 PM

as stated earlyer. lube it up. WD40 would probly be the easiest to squirt in. also make sure the key is actully in the right position.

Yeah, start working out. if your sister can twist a key, and you can't, theres a problem here.

great combination!

get a locksmith!

[GDC]_Polemarcus 12-26-2003 02:00 PM

When you put the key in, and turned the knob - the tumbeler probably bent the key. Thus you have a jagged piece of metal inside the lock. As said before, try WD40... and a pair of pliers. If it dosnt come out, you will have to replace the lock. You could also try turning the handle really hard the other way to bend the key back.

Unknown_Sniper 12-26-2003 02:33 PM

hmm. First off your suck its a door knob. or rather your sister sucks. IVe bent a key in a doorknob and it didnt get stuck. I reccomend the old wd-40 trick. if that dont work get someone stronger or take it apart

this could also make 2 bends in the key - in which your fucked!

Scalping Chief 12-28-2003 12:35 AM

replace the lock

I have to admit... I thought this was going to be a thread about your sister actually being a "doorknob"

I was rather disappointed when I found out she just got her key stuck in one.

con Brio 12-31-2003 03:22 PM

well ive tried WD40, i've removed the lock from the door and tried prying the key out with a wrench and pliers and still it won't budge... i think a part of the key must have broken inside and is now stuck in the lock.... dammit

Johnj 12-31-2003 06:16 PM

Go to the hardware store and buy a new doorknob! Jeese!

Trudel 12-31-2003 06:49 PM

Take the entire doorknob to a locksmith. They'll get the key out and fix the lock and make you a new key.

why dont u take the entire door to the locksmith??

and besides the locksmith wouldnt have the right key, first of all he'll need:
1) mansion of with millions of shelves of keys
try each and every key in the mansion:

i dont think so!!

besides - i dont think that'l be legal! - easily break into someones house: jst take all 65billion keys with u!

Trust me dude, buying a doorknob that looks like yours is gonna be way cheaper then to look up a locksmith and have him do all this shit, both in parts and labor.

Arkan 12-31-2003 08:26 PM

Holy shit, a fuckin' door knob costs $8 at Home Depot. Go there and buy one you cheap bastard so the rest of us can go on with our lives!!

/me wonders how dumb people can be sometimes
