Will u be scared by this game? and be honest....
Doom 3 looks insanely freaky. I don't know about you guys, but if i ever get a copy of this game, I'll never be playing it in the dark basement in the wee hours of the night.... ed:
|
no, omg, those zombies look like pokemon oOo:
|
If its not scary, then the makers haven't done their job. Its the same with a movie. If you go to a horror film, you go to be scared. If it doess't scare you, then its a shitty attempt at a horror flick. Simple.
|
the leaked alpha was pertty scary
i hate to say it but, i had to play it with the lights on and the sound really low. im guessing the full version will make me shit my pants |
The atmosphere is intense even in the alpha - I can't wait to see what John
Carmack has done with this incredible engine... |
Yah, Bill Tarnsworth did alot with the engine too.. oOo:
|
I think if I played it in complete darkness, it might. The 1st Resident Evil on PSX was the only game that scared me when those dogs jumped through those windows. cry:
|
The creatures arnt scary... The atmosphere is what will have to pull it off. I mean upside down head spidery things arnt that creepy.

youre scary blitz

I will prolly be scared and need to play the game with the lights on and not be alone in the house. Games with zombies and the undead get me on edge and a little nervous. I have this feeling when playing RTCW, thief 1 and 2 and the other doom games. I guess im a little bitch sometimes. ed:
|
I can see me shitting my pants several times. Game looks freaked out.
|
The game isnt scary..the only thing that makes me shit my pants is when like a monster hops out of nowhere and makes a load noise ( I crank my badass speakers up HIGH when i play games) but the monsters are more funny then scary. mwah:
|
The creepest thing i've experienced when playing a video game is definatly the "Licker" creatures in Resident Evil.
|
Quote:
Long winter nights, pitch black in the room, everyone else is fast asleep.. Nothing beats the feeling of one of those "Lickers" jumping out in front of you, just as you realise youre almost out of ammo.. biggrin: |
omg wtf ttyl what was that?!?!!1
Any of you people played the Thief games?
Those are the most atmospheric and chilling games I've played, only to be played in the dark with headphones on to the maximo. I Hope Thief 3 carries on from the quality and legacy of the 1st two, I'm sure it will because the graphics look incredible so far. Doom 3 will be very special indeed altho my current PC set-up may not even make it to the game's Menu screen oOo: |

I blew up my colonoscopy bag when I played that level. You are right about that series, the atmosphere of that game is so chilling, I can't play it w/o having someone near me. The best part of the Doom series is hearing the grunts and growls of monsters hiding around the corner. |
I have no doubt the game will be incredible.... but replay value after the first little while may be extremely low. MUltiplayer has support for only 4 players as of now. Im sure though the first month of this game will be one of the best experiences of the year single player wise. Im looking towards Half Life 2 to supply that online need while Doom 3 can satisfy the single player one. "Although both should be great in every way. biggrin:

Silent hill scared me. I don't believe thatw ill happen again in a game thats not as twisted as SH.
|
RTCW scared me... I hated that zombie level in the crypt. Although I had my speakers loud and played in the dark in my bedroom so that's what made it really scary...
|
The ability to suspend reality and immerse yourself in the game really helps
when you want to feel a certain way when playing a game: to my misfortune, I've mastered that art. As a consequences, many soiled pants had to be burned so as to destroy the evil spirits within! biggrin: |
thats all a load of sh&t
the scariest game by far is resident evil ed: |

I wanted to side with the german soldiers cause I was so scared. |
Looks scary. I'm sure if I played at night with the lights out, I'd jump a few times.
|
I used to get scared at the littlest things. Like I got scared watching the movie independece day
|
lol.
any game that has a monster thats really f-ed up jump out and scream, breathe in, then scream again will make me jump... Scariest game i played is prolly Extermination. THose bugs were f-ed up. |
Extermination
Extermination.. I will have to look for that since all games I've tried to date have failed to scare me.
*EDIT* Actually Bioforge was scary.. how you could tear off this guys arm at the very beginning and beat people dead with it! --------------------------------------------------------------- [DAS REICH] Blitz the_finger: |
RTCW was pretty scarey the first time i played it... the second and third time i completed it didnt bother me.
I played the demo silent hill at night and that scared the SHIT out of me |
pffft more zombie shit,
maybe if you're 5 years old its scary, but not to me |
[quote="Sgt Stryker":56e14]pffft more zombie shit,

The sound effects in the game are just as important as the graphics. If the alpha is anything to go by and according to john carmack the game at the minute looks a lot better than the alpha, then im sure everyone will have at least a few moments in the game that will scare them because thats id's entire focus and they havn't failed to deliver in any of the quake or doom games so far. Believe me this game isn't any "technology demo" its a retelling of the game that basically started the first Person Shooter genre and iD aren't gonna sell the game that made them short by any means. Were talking the most advanced pc graphics ever in a game, an atmosphere that no other game has been able to offer. I don't need any convincing since i played the alpha for ages and have a good idea of what to expect. I can pretty much guarantee everyone is gonna have quite a few moments in doom 3 that will make them jump or scare them to some degree, course most will say "nah that game never scared me" just for the sake of having to be different, gg internet. |

Oh yeah listen to einstein here, so as soon as you hit 13 you're automatically not scared by anything in a movie or a game? Think i'll call BULLSHIT on that statement as its the biggest lot of fuck ive read in quite some time. |

Hah, I'll admit I get scared at times when I play games computer games. Saying you don't get scared watching a scary movie or scary games just means you're brain dead. cool:

Did I mention that Bioforge was scary.. You could tear off this guys arm at the very beginning and beat people dead with it!
P.S. Mr.Miyagi's Little Girl with knife pic reminds me of the little baby boy with scalpel off Pet Semetary! P.P.S. If you guys want to give me a technical hand over in the /Technical Problems section of the AlliedAssaul.com Forum I could use it, I have the top post right now titled "Same old question, looking for a solution.. Enable Lean whil" Thanks. --------------------------------------------------------------- [DAS REICH] Blitz the_finger: |

no I just know fantasy from reality, war movies scare me more than horror, because the ABSOLUTE LAST thing I'd want to see is a Tiger tank rolling up to me, not an imaginary monster. That being said, when I watched Lord of the Rings I was more scared of the orc armies than the Nazgul and mystical crap. I could just imagine what it would be liek if I was the one holding the line against that army. I do enjoy sci-fi games if the plot is good (because I like sci-fi in general), but I never liked the Doom series plots at all. |
