Trudel 01-08-2004 12:14 PM

For the past week it has been -20 to -30 centigrade here in Calgary. That's without the windchill. When I go to school, I park my car about a 5 minute walk from the entrance tot eh building I need to go to, and I love to watch the people who don't put a toque on because they don't want to mess their hair up. Hmmm...frostbite or nice lookin hair. Hard to decide.

Poseidon 01-08-2004 12:38 PM

wow - its no where near that cold in the uk!
I was cycling to college and was pretty damn warm!

tho the wind was stopping me from getting over 1mph this morning -it was like gail force.

01-08-2004 12:47 PM

can you guys please specify what scale you are using,
I automatically assume people with Canada or Europe in their location use Celsius and Americans use Fahrenheit, right?

Trudel 01-08-2004 12:49 PM

Celcius = Centigrade

Anders Celsius (1701–1744), a Swedish astronomer, invented the thermometer with a scale of 100 degrees from freezing to boiling of water, but English called it a centigrade thermometer until in 1948 an international convention decided to honor Celsius by giving it his name. Conventional notation for such temperatures remained unchanged: it is still 10°C or 22°C for centigrade or Celsius; both are Standard.

So yeah, were all talking in celsius. Pretty much everyone in Europe and everyone in Canada uses celsius.

01-08-2004 12:53 PM

I know celsius pretty well, I was just verifying what everyone used

Zoner 01-08-2004 01:04 PM

Ya, Celsius here.

So, -34C = -29.2F

Any way you slice it, it's still fucking cold.

Yeah, I know. I feel sorry for the guys who work on the high steel or building other things.

And I do work outside. I have 2 weekend exercises with the Army this month where I will be sleeping in a tent where we have to keep the stove going for heat and doing section attacks in the snow.

Machette 01-08-2004 03:38 PM

Yeah it's fucking cold here, all ice basically.

Pvt.Pinhead 01-08-2004 06:03 PM

I dont know what yall are complaining about, I wish it'd be cold were I am. A "Cold Front" came through the other day and made it 40 degrees farenhiet, I dont know what that is in Celcius, but Im still wearing short sleeve shirts.

Unknown_Sniper 01-08-2004 06:17 PM

you dont want it to be this cold. Everything is ice. Imean EVERYTHING. the parking lot at school is ice. makes for a hell of a fun time getting out though. Seeing how I get out early the rows are empty meanign I can spin out and what not. go sideways lol rock:

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 01-08-2004 06:21 PM

It's not too cold here but it's still raining and I still haven't seen the sun yet... oOo:

Trudel 01-08-2004 06:25 PM

Meh, what do you expect?

Canada = ball numbing cold, but not cold enough that you can't go out and play hockey until you hands and feet have frostbite.

England = rain until it looks like you've been sitting in the tub for an hour and you hands look like prunes.

It was actually sunny today. Probably around 0C. I'm going to play hockey right now actually.

F|4m3s Ru|3 01-08-2004 07:08 PM

Here in Calgary its getting warm again. I was in Ireland over Christmas and it didnt rain at all, which was suprising for the middle of winter. Pleasant 10 degrees celcius every day. Yo Jeff go to the Haysboro rink saturday afternoon; I think ill be there with a few of my buds.

Sergeant_Scrotum 01-08-2004 07:44 PM

dont go too crazy. At my school some kids were just messing around in the back parking lot early in the morning when no cars were there. just hitting the handbrake & whipping the back end around, not doing any hard or risking serious injury. anyways the fucking nazi principal called the cops & all the kids had their lisences suspended for careless driving. Careless driving means a heafty fine plus insurence rates go trough the roof.

omicron 01-08-2004 09:27 PM

This mornin it was like -11C. I usually don't use celcius, but I just saw it on a sign this morning, you know the ones that tell you the time and temp. oOo:

strvs 01-08-2004 09:27 PM

It was a bout -30 with a windchill which made it feel like -40 a couple of days ago, it was fucking horrible.
