IMO Baseball fights are the best. The whole fucking team clears the benches. rock:

maybe the whole bench clears but usually a total of 1 1/2 punches are thrown, there a bunch of pussies.

I saw a Probert fight with Gates ( i think ) on Rock em Sock em ( i got every one ) and a total of over about 50 punches were thrown in about 1 minute. someone find it, its fuckin awsome.

|
I found the music more funny than the actuall movie.

best hockey fight ever was Probert v McSorley! awesome!

Sport fights shouldn't even be tolerated. When did it become permissible to
do such things in the course of a game ? On top of that, you encourage it! mwah: Hockey is the WORST. We had a very interesting discussion about just that in Law class a few years ago: steps should be taken to put the law back into the game. As it stands, anyone can just incapacitate everyone else with little to no repercussions... |
McCarty vs. Lemieux...

Hmm, not really. You can incapacitate a player if you take your stick to their head, but really that's not allowed.
Two guys punching each other in the face isn't that bad. If you watched hockey, you'd know that the guys who do fight, are basically there to fight. They enforce a physical presence for their team, and protect other players. Nobody forces anyone to fight. If someone doesn't fight and the other guy drops the gloves, he'll get a penalty. All you have to do is not drop your gloves. Or you can turtle like some guys do to draw a penalty. Thats just cheap. What about boxing? Or any other fighting sport for that matter? |
Boxing is illegal without the use of efficient protective gloves and belts. Can
you direct me to the Hockey rules stating that boxing or any form of physical violence is allowed ? It isn't. The game has a very specific goal and has to be played a certain way. Pay attention... |

Yes, Mike Tyson is a productive part of society because he used efficient protective gloves and belts.
Well, holding, putting you hand on teh puck in the crease, spearing, boarding, roughing, too many men, fighting are all not allowed and are all penalties. Fighting isn't illegal, but it is penalized. So what's your point? Because fighting and other actions get you penalties, they shouldn't be allowed? Fighting is an important part of the game. It rallies your team, and many times can be a turning point and win a game for a team. It rallies the fans and energizes the team. [quote:31549]game has a very specific goal and has to be played a certain way.[/quote:31549] Do you want the players to not wear pads, have absolutley no hitting or touching other players in any way and play like that, since the main goal is to put the puck in the net, why do we need any other part of the game? Shold we do the same for football and rugby? |
Use of force on undeserving citizens (initiation of force only in retaliatory
situations is allowable) is supposed to be severely reprimanded. Why the fuck should it be tolerated in sports ? Are you beginning to understand ? [quote:e9544]Fighting is an important part of the game. It rallies your team, and many times can be a turning point and win a game for a team. It rallies the fans and energizes the team. [/quote:e9544] Fuck no it isn't. It became this way gradually because of lax enforcement of rules. You're pretty short-sighted if you think that the only way to "rally" the players is by initiating the use of force on members of the opposing team. Sometimes, I wonder why I even bother... |

Hockeys isnt. Hockeys is to get the puck, in the goal. Not to fist fight the dude. |
Uhh...solidus, sorry to bring you down, but fighting used to be VERY common back in the early 1900's. Everyone used to fight. Do you understand this? If you compare todays NHL to say 1920's or 1930's, you'll fnd a lot less fights now than there were back then. It came from players actually disliking each other enough to beat the shit out of each other. This is where the fighting came from, not from lax rules as you claim. rolleyes:

If that is correct, it still doesn't excuse their behavior. Regardless of past
trends, proper following of the non-agression principle should be obeyed. This is, of course, viewed as properly as possible without interrupting the normal flow of the activity: hockey might have minimal physical contact but it isn't necessarily violent in nature. The problem comes from repeated, useless initiation of force on a player. We probably won't agree on any of this so I will leave it at that... |
