When I start the game, a grey screen appears, then it turns to black, and that's it. The mouse pointer is visible, and I can move it around, but the game doesn't load any further. I can't exit from this black screen either, I have to reset my computer. It does this both in safe mode and normal versions.

Anybody else have/had this problem? Any idea how to get around it?

Post the specs your computer. Also, turn off any virus or firewall programs.

I tried it without having any programs run except Systray and Explorer, but I had the same problem.

Here are my specs:

Pentium 4, 1.3GHz
386MB of Ram
64MB 3D Prophet 4000XT Video Card
Sound Blaster Live MP3+ 5.1 Sound Card
OS: Windows 98 A 4.10.2222
40 Gig HD and 56x CD-Rom Drive

I have almost the same problem, look at my thread: my worst freaking nightmare.

I've dowloaded the latest version of DirectX, the latest drivers for my video card (which didn't help in the least, and now my screen is shaking! It's really annoying...). Can anyone help me?

Instead of the LATEST version of V/Card drivers--try the next lowest.

No luck http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/frown.gif Game does the same thing. I even tried re-instaling the game after intaling the almost latest driver, but the same thing happened.

And what really ticks me about this whole situation, is that the official boards are down.

Try some lower v/card version numbers. Here's a good site for v/card driver stuff. Do not install new drivers over old ones. Use the Detonator Destroyer.

It's telling me something in the start up console in the begining of the game "Couldn't execute (or find) something" There are a couple lines of this. Any idea how to get a copy of this text?

Heh, ok, this was getting kind of confusing http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif Let's just keep it to this board.

I tried that the Print Screen, it probably worked (taking the screen and saving it on the clipboard) But the crash that happened a few seconds later forced me to reboot, erasing anything that might have been on the clipboard.

The F12 key doesn't seem to have done anything. Unless the screens are sm.000 sm.001 and sm.002 (I did take 3 shots) but those aren't piicture files.

Any other ideas?

Now that monday has come around, and EA and 2015 are back at work, has anything about these kinds of problems been annouced? It seems I can't go onto the official board.
