that's not it. The song you are wanting is called "The Minstrel Boy". It is one of my favourite tunes which I have playing on my stereo all the time. Here's a link to the lyrics...

Yeah there definatly was grenades, than again maybe you can only have so many grenades in a combat load i dunno maybe im just talking out of my ass eek:

Vance 02-08-2004 02:57 PM

Plus grenades in a mainly CQB would not be the smartest move... eek: Especially a place loaded with civilians.

Hell no, urban is the best place for grenades, think of all the rooms you have to clear, before you clear a room you use a grenade, you can go through an entire fire teams grenades in one building.

I'm talking about street fighting, not room to room...if you've ever ooked at the streets in Somalia, they are small and narrow..throwing a grenade in a street wouldn't be a good idea...

well, we do see the Dalta Force guy throw a grenade into a window,
but I think the main reasons for no grenades are:

1. ROE, it would look terrible for PR if the troops blew up that lady with her 6-8 kids with a nade
2. "we'll only be gone one hour"; the Rangers were only supposed to cover Delta for a few minutes and then exfil on the convoy, they were not supposed to go into buildings, that was Delta's job. Which is why Delta troopers have throwing grenades but Rangers only have M-203 launched grenades, they were expected to do their fighting at a distance.

Zap. USMC 02-08-2004 05:04 PM

There was one scene where a Ranger used a grenade to try and get rid of that .50 cal on that truck.

In the book it said majority of the Rangers left thier body armor, and some of the water behind but kept thier ammo/grenades with them.

Himmler 02-08-2004 05:26 PM

BlackHawk down was an awesome movie. I hated the part where, i think this is his name, Cpl. Jamie Smith died from his wound to the leg. That part was sad. They should have tried to send in a med evac for him.

Then there would of been THREE Blackhawks down, more people dead and wounded and more shit to deal with. I respect the decision that HQ made that day. Those Blackhawk had a hard time as it was "delivering" ammo and water (more like dropping it from the sky) to the soldiers down in the city. Plus as Vance pointed out the streets were VERY small and narrow. One Little Bird landed in the middle of the street to try and rescue the crew of Super Six Four and the rotors were INCHES away from the buildings... and the Little Bird is considered a "small" aircraft. Try fitting a blackhawk in those small, narrow streets.

Pick Axe 02-08-2004 07:10 PM

the book's a good read, and the movie is alright, not great though.
