fuck this, fuck ati. im fed up with this bullshit. this is my first ati card ever and my old geforce4 mx400 32mb peformed better. I just sent them an e-mail demanding them to send me a new 9800 XT or ill take them to court for selling defective products. fucking cock hungry cyber nerds

first off, ati > nvidia.
maybe its not your video card thats fucking up? maybe your ram sucks? your CPU? you could have the best vid card in the world and get 10 fps cuz your CPU cant handle all that information. if you think the ati 9700 is defective you cant take them to court, you can exchange it for a new one. if i could take people to court i would have done it a hundred times. my dad has a company that sometimes sells defective products becasuse how the hell are we supposed to know that 1 out of 1000 things is defective? if its defective return it, but go ahead and try but you cant sue a company for selling something that is defective. i would hope you knew this cuz it is jsut common sense of any consumer. sleeping:

titty hunter you need to listen to me and listen good.

first up. download driver cleaner 2 and install it. i have been kind enough to provide you with a link http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

then you need to go into control panel and in to add/remove programs. uninstall ati control panel and when it asks you if you want to reboot say no.

then uninstall the ati display driver. when it asks you if you want to reboot this time say yes.

then you need to boot into safe mode. as your pc is booting pump the f8 button until the menu appears. choose safe mode.

when you get in to safe mode run driver cleaner 2. select ati and then hit the clean button. then select ati wdm and hit the clean button.

disconnect you computer from the internet at this stage if it is connected. this stops windows fucking off to the web to find drivers when you reboot.

reboot.

when you get into windows it will try to be a smart ass by installing drivers for you. if you get any dialogue boxes asking you to locate drivers hit the cancel button.

then find your downloaded ati catalyst drivers. if you haven't got 4.2 get them [url:0eb4e]http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdr iver&submit.x=7&submit.y=9[/url:0eb4e] here if you are using xp.

install them and see if the lines have fucked off. if they are still there then i would guess that the card or your monitor is fuxOred and you can start to cry.

I hate to reformat.

My guess is user error (not trying ot be funny). Especially if you are swapping from an nvidia card. Dirver conflicts between the two can be real buggers to fix and one missed step will screw the whole process. The instructions provided several posts ago with driver cleaner are solid. Mkae sure you have no drivers on your pc, nvidia or ati and then reinstall. Read the readme file provided with driver cleaner. Follow every instruction, even if it sounds silly. I just went thru this whole process yesterday (twice) because a buddy had problems installing an nvidia card, so to make sure the card wasnt messed up, we installed it on an ATI system. I've done this more than a couple times and I still screwed it up few times yesterday. Its frustrating, but once I slowed down, quit being overconfident and followed the instructions step by step, everything worked.

If its a dirver issue, reformatting will fix your problem, but who wants to spend hours setting windows up again?

it didnt help worth a shit.i even reformatted. ive tried EVERYTHING IMAGINEABLE and NOTHING helped. i also got the same symptoms of a faulty card. im going to RMA it


i guess this is the result of bad driver installations/user error.
