The Passion...whose gonna see it?

Mel Gibson's new movie "The Passion" which tells the story of the life of Christ, comes out tomorow. It's suposed to be really good, like the most accurate portrayel of the passion ever made, it looks real good. I don't know about where u guys live but theaters around here are screening it in like 13 outta their 24 screens in anticipation for the mass sell outs. I'm almost definitly gonna see it tomorow, what about you guys?

Punky 02-25-2004 09:01 PM

aye.. i will be there

Short Hand 02-25-2004 09:03 PM

meh. ill watch it tommorow.

Duke_of_Ray 02-25-2004 09:09 PM

Ironically, I don't really care to see it. oOo:

ninty 02-25-2004 09:16 PM

I'm in no rush, but I will see it.

On CNN they showed people coming out of the theatre crying and saying "Thank you Jesus". That pissed me off a little bit, because I think that people should know what Jesus "did" through Church etc. not a movie, but whatever.

Judas 02-25-2004 09:20 PM

negative. i dont like jesus or mel gibson.

If they're seeing the movie, odds are they know what He did. Seeing it visually just enhances your appreciation for what He did. It's kind of like the opening Omaha Beach scene of SPR.

Fireal 02-25-2004 09:46 PM

Definatly, its going to be quite awesome.

Pyro 02-25-2004 09:57 PM

Jesus is the man, and Mel Gibson took on Jet Li so I think I owe it to him at least.

Madmartagen 02-25-2004 10:09 PM

I'll prolly see it this week, but im not terribly excited about it.

Jotun 02-25-2004 10:10 PM

im not dying to go out and see it, but it definitely looks good, i'll see it sometime.

101stSpeirs 02-25-2004 11:51 PM

i am going to, my friend's youth group rented out the theater the day before, he said it was really bloody

Bleuachdu 02-26-2004 07:55 AM

seeing it thursday

Zoner 02-26-2004 07:59 AM

It's not getting great reviews. Well, the couple I've read (The Onion and The Globe & Mail) didn't like it. Too much emphasis on violence, not enough on spirituality. *shrug*

Sacrilege!!! biggrin:

I'll make up my own mind, but I doubt 'll see it in the theatre.

Mr.Buttocks 02-26-2004 08:14 AM

ok this film does not come out where i live until next month so if you guys are going to talk about it after you have seen it please do not spoil it for me and some of the others by talking about how the film ends.

Zoner 02-26-2004 08:42 AM

You're joking, right?

In the end, Jesus hops on a Harley and hauls ass to Lollapalooza. Everyone knows that.

bukdez 02-26-2004 11:26 AM

no, no, at the end jesus is all fuck this, i know we cant go under 50 mph, so he just drives the bus right over the gap in the highway, and is all 'yippie-ki-yay mother fucker', but his feet are all cut up from the broken glass, so he just keeps going, despite lasers and tie-fighters on his tail, hes all 'stay on target, stay on target' and boom, just as the death star explodes, Jesus jumps of the dam and the FBI guys are all 'like where did he go'... at least thats what the bible says....

Pyro 02-26-2004 03:54 PM

I alway heard that Judas was actually an investment banker.

Judas was gangsta, he didn't deserve was he ended up getting.

Judas is almost as gangsta as Jesus.

Punky 02-26-2004 09:58 PM

Old Reliable 02-26-2004 11:41 PM

GOD IS REAL! WWJD FOR A KLONDIKE BAR!

Eight Ace 02-27-2004 02:52 AM

I haven’t seen the film and probably won’t…I’m not a Christian but from what I gather
this movie depicting the brutal death of Jesus can only be an incomplete one.

Does it refer at all to the “miracle” of Jesus rising again and leaving his tomb to rejoin his father
in heaven? Is that part not the entire point of the required Faith..?, forgive me if this is included in
the movie, as I said I haven’t seen it…but if it only covers the brutal taking of the life of a
non-conformist in the era of the Roman empire, then it could hardly be described as unique,
…I’m not queuing up just to see a totally decent guy get owned. beer:

Punky 02-27-2004 03:34 AM

the thing is guys.. you completely forget that this is a religious movie.. it doesn't stuff religion down your throat and there is not a huge amount of conversation through it... I am not one to go to church.. I am not one to listen to someone tell me how I should live my life.. I know that if i believe that he died for my sins and love him then I am good to go...
it is a great movie.. if you don't want to see it because it is a bible movie.. I am definatly not one to sit at home on a sunday and watch "The 13 comandments..." eek: It is just a very well made movie.. it is the first one that the sky's don't open up and the sun come out and angles fall from the heaven when he is dead... it is the first one to show you the hurt and pain and anger that people had...
like i said.. i am not a bible thumper by ANY means.. I am not a church goer.. I believe in gay marriage and I believe that people should be able to live their life the way they want it.. but the fact is .. this movie if you don't see it now.. you have to see it at one point in your life...

Pvt.Pinhead 02-27-2004 03:06 PM

I also am no the type to watch a religous movie about Moses or something boring like that, even though I am heavily Christian, but I saw that movie this afternoon, and man, I was like wow....defiantly great, awsome, just goes to show you Jesus did so much for us, but yet most of us dont even care....its sad.....
Another GREAT movie like this is Jesus Christ Superstar, I love that movie!!

Recycled Spooge 02-27-2004 03:36 PM

I don't care about Jesus and I don't care if he died for me. I'm pretty sure he was not the first or last to do so, but I probably will see the movie at one point though.
