That was awesome! Tornados are one of my most favorite things.

Madmartagen 05-17-2004 08:03 PM

Nice footage, I just wish they filmed the tornado touching down. I also wanted flying cows.

Bucknub 05-17-2004 08:37 PM

sweet

Sergeant_Scrotum 05-17-2004 08:47 PM

Twister is by far one of my favorite movies.

bukdez 05-17-2004 08:50 PM

that house flew like dorothy's... crazy footage...

TonyMontana 05-17-2004 08:53 PM

awesome

Infection_Smith@ 05-17-2004 08:54 PM

It'll be cool if they drove into that thing.

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 05-17-2004 10:06 PM

Anyone ever seen a real one? I've never seen anything other than a lightening storm. I was in Hurricane but I slept through it & was too young to remember what happened.

I've seen a few tornados in my life. I live on the East Coast, so they've all be smaller ones.. F1 and F2 - they break windows and rip off shingles but they won't knock a well-built house over.

I've also been through several hurricanes.

I can safely say, though, that a tornado is by far the scariest thing I've ever experienced to date. Mainly because you don't know how big the thing is until long after it's gone.

Mr.Buttocks 05-18-2004 06:01 AM

Have you guys ever seen the documentaries on the Discovery channel about the "Stormchasers", those crazy guys that hunt down Tornados just to film them? Man....those guys are either stupid or very brave, or both.

JBird 05-18-2004 06:09 AM

well, ive been in 2 tornadoes, and ive seen one. let me tell you something, once youre in one, you will have a lot more respect for them and think they are less "cool"....trust me. living in the midwest there are usually 2 to 3 close calls a yr for tornadoes. there was an f3 that killed 12 ppl in Utica IL about 4 weeks ago which ended up missing the southwestern tip of chicago (thank god) by only a couple of miles. ed:

^^ya ur right....i have been in one. i was driving down the highway and the field not too far from me, a tornado touched. i almost pissed my pants. people were getting out of the car and running into the ditch. i pulled out my camera and start takin pictures. quite an experience.

Himmler 05-18-2004 08:45 AM

awesome biggrin:

bukdez 05-18-2004 09:19 AM

i was in a tent when a tornado occured... it dropped a two foot thick tree branch on me and two friends, shattering my spine... tornados are dangerous...

oOo:

bukdez 05-18-2004 09:48 AM

what?.. is that a look of disbelief?..

i was 17 it was 1993, i suffered a near complete burst fracture of my L1 vertebrate... essentially 75% of the bone was reduced to small chunks and dust... they took bone from my hip (similar to a marrow transplant) and were able to make my vertebrat about 75% of what it was originally, it is now shaped like a doorstop... they then affixed 2 steel rods with four steel screws to internally cast the wound, in a 6-8 hour operation... several months later the internal fixation device broke, and i had to have surgery again...

Mr.Buttocks 05-18-2004 09:51 AM

bukdez, it's hard to know if someone's being serious or taking the piss on these forums, hence the oOo: smilie.

i believe bukdez, i dont think he would lie about that..

bukdez 05-18-2004 09:58 AM

thanks tony... i wish it never happened, so no reason to lie, but i guess my original post is subject to skepticism due to the lack of detail, i just didn't feel like telling the whole story...

i know what you are saying Mr.Buttocks, it is hard to believe everything on these forums, and its probably a good thing for you to be critical...

Well you can console yourself with the fact that if I ever meet you in real life I'll massage that back of yours with some hot oils. happy:

one guy was outside the tent, he saw it happen, and was sure we were dead... one guy in the tent was ok, my other friend had a fractured skull, compound fracture of the shoulder/arm and almost 50% blood loss... it was damn sick, i saw the bone just sticking right out of her arm, nasty stuff...

Unknown_Sniper 05-18-2004 08:59 PM

IVe been through earthquakes, weaker hurricans, desert wind storms, nor' easters, complete white out snow storms, fires, and floods. But I have yet to be in a tornado or so much as see one. The closest ive seen was a dust devil outside vegas. it was probably 1,000 feet tall. But it would at most cause some skin irritation.
