Death

This is a JOC poll to see what you guys think of death. With things as they are, it may come sooner than we think. So, what is your opinion of what happens when you die? If you have any other views that are not in the poll options, im sorry and feel free to express them.

geRV 06-02-2004 07:35 PM

You decompose, thats it.

TonyMontana 06-02-2004 07:35 PM

im roman catholic so i believe in heaven or hell after death

Merlin122 06-02-2004 07:37 PM

You become one with the force.

Actually there may be more truth to that than you know. Each persons body contains, im not sure if this is the correct term, but something along the lines of bioelectric energy. What happens to all that energy when you die. As you know, energy cannot be created nor destroyed.

?

Kinetic energy is "created" basically by anything that moves...so how can it not be created?

Kinetic energy is not created. It already exhists, as potential energy. But when you actually do something it turns to kinetic energy. Otherwise, you have potential energy. Like the difference between walking to the fridge or having the potential to walk to the fridge.

Its gathered by all your day to day processes, breathing eating etc.

It's consumed by the bacteria that decompose your body....

lol i remember when I was in 8th, worst year of school, partially due to the fact of double period earth science, dullest subject, ever.

intrestedviewer 06-02-2004 07:54 PM

oOo: Bill Nye: "science rules" There has to be something more to existence than we can see, i mean look around you and think, is all i can see all there is? Well all i can say is, i hope not.

Arkan 06-02-2004 07:57 PM

I pretty much believe you die....then thats it, you're just dead.

Madmartagen 06-02-2004 08:01 PM

I'm Catholic, but lately I've had some conflicting ideas on how things work. I believe in evolution, but I also think there was some entity who started it all. I belive in Heaven and Hell, but it is more like a dream than another realm in the universe. If there is a Hell, I would think it would be reserved for only the most vile of people. I think most people would find their place in heaven but I think its more of a state of mind than a reality. Basically, I dont know.

Were all made of matter, through cells and all that jazz. When you die, you decompose. All the matter goes back into the earth. Eaten by consumers, back into the cycle of life. That's it...on earth. I think there is much more to this universe. Not in a spiritual sense, but in a life sense. I would put all my money and posessions that there are at least 1000 other forms of life in other areas of the universe, so I really don't think this is it.

Apocalypse | NoW 06-02-2004 08:41 PM

Some scientists put people in a very deep hypnosis. When they get put in it, some people see things from "past lives."

bukdez 06-02-2004 09:05 PM

death = wormfood...

Unknown_Sniper 06-02-2004 09:27 PM

for hte longest time Ive believe your dead, and that the energy you contained is realeased into the world. But sometimes I tihnk you get reincarnated, but not as a human.

snipes 06-02-2004 09:36 PM

I am a christian, so I believe you either go to heaven or hell.

intrestedviewer 06-02-2004 09:38 PM

Does the bible ever mention "Hell"? Or is Hell something that was made after the bible was written?

Neo Nazi Hitler 06-02-2004 09:55 PM

I believe it talks of it in the new testiment?

and back to that evergy crap, don't you bastards remember anything?! Energy can never be created nor destroyed. That means there is a balance in the universe of Matter and Energy. Some scientests believe energy can be created through tiny bits of matter, like 'waves.' Light waves, and other energy/matter type things are waves... scientists believe these waves can pass through some things, like glass, or thin paper, or other crap, but can't penetrate strong materials like steel, or titanium.

Duke_of_Ray 06-02-2004 10:11 PM

Believe you either go to Heaven or Hell, but I do believe God gives us plenty of chances to make the right choice and will always accept us into His House, noo matter how late in life we accept Him. I do not believe it's about beign a good or bad person, if you make it right with God, that will be taken care of.

Machette 06-02-2004 10:21 PM

re-incarnation but sometimes i just believe your just dead, decompose etc

06-02-2004 10:44 PM

I'm kind of partial to teh whole re-incarnation thing myself, like Patton biggrin:

Excellent choice of topic, Adml. O.

The wave of stupid threads often causes me to seek intelligence elsewhere. Nice to see a thread void of "I hate this", "Watch this stupid clip", or "(insert country here) sucks".

As a young man I studied several different religions in an effort to understand the truth. The first thing that I came across was Hindu...and I really can't see worshiping cows. I quess I just love a T-Bone to much.

So I don't buy into the reincarnation bit. I do however believe there is a connection with all life, or a "of the same making" philosophy. So in that respect I do think all life should be cherished.

The next thing I set out to study was Christ related religion, from Morman to Catholic. I read a good portion of the bible and researched its history. I came to the conclusion that Jesus did live and in my opinion was a gifted and unique savior. His teachings and ideals are the groundwork for a perfect worldwide society.
However I was amazed at the diversity of Christ related religion, it turns out that most Christ related religions shun others and consider the other wrong, or worse evil or corupt.

But I never bought into the whole judgement day, Jesus the son of god, or creation a begining of life. I really laugh at those who take the bible so seriously as to say it is all true and we should beg for forgiveness. It would seem those people have no concept of the history of thier own litature.

One of the final things I studied was Buddhism, which concerns the energy or Karma you guys are discussing now. With Buddhism I really enjoyed the lack of god...... Buddhism does not concern itself with god, only with understanding and enlightenment.

After all this I have come to understand that it doesn't really matter what will become of me once I am dead. I am a noble person and have lived my life honorably and justly. I have learned to appriciate life and have no fear of guilt, pain, or "hell" after I die.

BadScript 06-03-2004 03:43 AM

I'm surprised there wasn't a "I honestly don't know" option.

Anyway, I remember hearing about some sorta experiment, concluding that each person would be a few ounces lighter the moment they die; So maybe when you die you just wander around aimlessly in another form, and when time comes you would able to "connect" with a certain person, and make that certain person's day by "haunting" him/her.

Then again, maybe you'll just rot. angel:

Life has no intrinsic value or purpose. When our time comes, permanent unconsciousness. Enjoy what little time you have and choose your purpose wisely, for you will never again possess an awareness of existence...

What he said. I recommend if you want to read about what happens before you die to read "Tuesdays With Morrie". Its a slow read but its a true story and you will learn about whats to come.
