yea yea its been dead of recent, summer + exams + work etc. i finally opened photoshop and visited exalt after a 2-3 week break of not doing any of that shit but now i went back and found exalt to be dead, so going to pump some fresh blood in and so...

Im up, ive got a hangover and im working on getting shit sorted now that ive graduated (yesterday night was a blast, students everywhere, gettin drunk and screaming like maniacs).

I care, it makes people create art, which is badass, it just needs to work on its tutorials and you have to spread the word out more, when no one is posting ofcourse its gonna die, u need constant people to go so spread the word out !

lets think this out.

1. the only person who creates art on exalt is Zen. the rest dont appreciate any kind of art, its all brushes and cheap effects.
2. they denied Art Attack when he applied. Art Attack is one of my favorite sig designers on this forum, along with Zen and Short.
3. people on exalt make fun of Judas here for creating beautiful pieces of art, when they themselves make horrible art on a COMPUTER. i guess they've actually TRIED to develop film, make contact sheets, test strips, dodge and burn an actual photograph. thats real art.

i dont want to hear "they're better than you at graphic design, but really i dont care. at least i know what art is.

another thing i dont want to hear is "art is all opinion"
to a point, yea it is. but when you say a 400x150 picture with a cool effect and brushes is art, you're just horribly mistaken.

But hes NOT the only one who does it.
Just look at eg. Kemi.

I love it, he hates brushwhores, yet Short is one of his "Favorite sig makers" Short is a huge brushwhore. Dont get me wrong, shorthand uses brushes right, and his pieces look good. But that doesnt change the fact he uses a lot of brushes

you cant argue on what art is and what it is not, I mean we all have our OPINIONS on art, obviously you just stated yours jotun, but when I was in DC I saw alot of modern art which just looked like crap to me, it was a bunch of sheet and scrap metal welded together in different places, hell me and my grandad who is a master welder, joked around saying he missed his calling b/c he could of done that in a matter of minutes and sold it for alot. But just b/c him and me did not think it was art, doesnt make it trash or shit, you as a person cannot tell someone else what that means to them or how it makes them feel, there are all forms of art whether it be, watercolor paintings by 2 yearolds or rembrant. Exalt is a place where ppl come together and make what the feel to be art, and that is awsome.

Look, for some reason 3/4 of everybody on this site think they're fucking good at art...Not true. I myself majored in art in high school and took 2 years of college courses for art. So I know what art is and i'd consider myself an artist...I've done all kinds of art, you name it...ive done it...

But thats besides the point...

People on here have some kind of ego fucking trip when they think they make a good sig or whatever...WOW you made a sig 400x140 peice of work...I really don't consider signatures to be serious art...I really use sigs to express whatever im feeling...and I throw my internet name on it and bam...instant sig...im not gonna spend hours and hours on one just to wear it for a month or so...

In my personal life, lately...ive been too busy to photograph, or draw, both of which ive been very serious with, and plan to persue at least one, if not both...but again, who cares...

I don't want to sound like a stuck up bitch, or a fucking asshole or whatever...but I havn't seen anyone on here impress me with their work...I KNOW A LOT OF YOU ARE GONNA READ THIS AND GET MAD, but at least im not lying to anyone here...everyones got their own strong points and weak points when making artwork...making sigs in my opinion is not artwork...just a little fucking graphic to look pretty. What I do in VisionWorksFX I would consider art...skinning weapons from scratch, making my own textures, etc etc...thats art...drawing for example (Judas)...thats art...drawing 'large art' in photoshop from scratch, thats art...taking a picture YOU took..and creating something 'beautiful'...thats art...making little sigs, no no...not art...

Whatever, im tired...sorry if ive offended anyone here...

I was going to stay out of this.....I find that if my name gets mentioned too much, I should stay away, lol.

I have recieved alot of compliments in the last few months, one that really got me was someone told me I was the new White Rabbit of AA.
I truely appriciate those who have said such nice things, thank you.

But to be quite honest I am not that good, I have an eye for cropping and a good sense of ballance...end of story. There are tons of techniques that I am only now learning and I can't even begin to count the things I have no knowledge of. I always find satisfaction when I make something that inspires others and often that is what drives me to new thought process' in my work.

In terms of " What is Art?" lol, I dont even concern myself with a definition....why bother. Selling printed copies of my PS skills is not something on my To-Do list, I am here to learn from others.

Exalt:

Jotun is right....... No one cares. It is a shame, but it is true. Exalt has everything it needs exept for a community. It is a great site, with a damn cool layout, tons of interactivity and a broad and open subject matter. But it has no population.....Those who post most there are from here, those who come over and are not from here are disrespected, ignored or called "cliche or trendy".

Exalt has imported AAs bad habits...let me give you an example:

Upon creation of the design team certain people were selected imediatly because of either their rep here or they were Dave or James friend. From there those people selected only those people who fit into their persieved group of close friends. So we ended up with a group of people who had known each other for a long time here, not a team of motivated designers willing to make something for others.....

I dont want to come off as sounding like no one "diserved" a possition they now hold, thats not what Im talking about. Im talking about the failure to use fair judgement in the decision process. Hell Im guilty too, I voted yes or neutral for every single applicant.

These are a few things that bother me about the community of Exalt, all direct reflections of an AA attitude. These are also attributes to the current lack of a community.
Another key issue to its decline is the absence of Dave and myself. I have several life changing events in the works and they have ocupied my time. I poped over to VC yesterday to give a similar explination at Hawks request because I have been vacant from there as well.

I have said it before, I will say it again: If Exalt is to suceed it will be because the posters and staff of Exalt want it to. I have the upmost confidence in Static, Dave, SH, Tystnad, and others who frequent Exalt most. In the next few weeks I will make an honest effort to contribute.
