Question about Wisdom Teeth Removal
Alright, on July 5th, I will be getting all four of my wisdom teeth removed, Ive chosen not to be put to sleep and just have luaghing gas and alot of freezing.
My question is, Should I be put to sleep instead for this procedure? here is my problem though, My dads dental insurance only covers 80%, and the being put to sleep will cost $500 and having my Wisdom teeth removed will cost $1006 or somehing, but after I do the 80% of coverage, im left with: Wisdom Teeth Removal - $1006 = $260 Put to Sleep - $500 = 400 Total of what I have to pay = $660 - Right out of MY pocket, and I have to pay That day, but of coarse, I will be reinburst on being put to Sleep, so I will get my $400 back, but Im not sure when. So Im wondering, is it worth all that money?, or should I not be put to sleep and endure all the needles and one hour+ of pressure on my jaw? |
i was put to sleep, and i woke up in a different room and it freeked me out
i would be put to sleep, they fucking clap your mouth open and shit like that plus stich everything up and shit |
I had 3 removed last year under general anaesthetic (put to sleep for you uneducated bastards). I'd recommend it personally, just for the sole fact that I wouldn't want to know what goes on during the procedure.

Go to Sweden, join the army and get it done for free.

The free health care doesn't cover dentistry, unfortunately.
|
some companies insurance covers that

mine are coming in on their own, i can see 3/4 of one of them.
|
I had 2 taken out under local, and the other two taken out under local a few weeks later. Let me tell you, that was a shitty experience. I would recommend going under for it, but if I had to pay for it, being the cheap basterd I am, I would just grin and bear it.
If you don't want to pay for a general, try and split up the appointment so you only have to do 2 teeth at a time. Doing 4 would be pretty bad. When I had mine done, they take these big pliers and try to pull the tooth out after drilling it and my tooth kind of brok in pieces. So I had half a tooth stuck in there and he had to kind of dig it out. Not cool. You can do it Buck. |
ed: cry: omg u are all scaring me. Im gonna get this done the 28th ed: And i get all 4 out and i dont get put to sleep. im in for a shity time...

Hey, don't worry about being put to sleep. Shit, when I had mine taken out it was only under local and it didn't hurt at all... well, except for the first one, they didn't use enough novicane and I felt the whole thing, but I felt like a badass afterwords because I didn't even flinch after feeling them tear a tooth out of my fuckin head. On another related topic, don't go for a job interview right afterwords either... people get wierded out when you're acting like a zombie and sptting out blood.

I put people to sleep for a living.....
First thing you need to find out is if your teeth are coming in straight or if they are impacted or coming in at odd angles. Also find out if the nerve roots to the wisdom teeth are wrapped around your jaw bone. If the teeth are coming in straight and no problems are seen with the nerves, it's just a matter of how freaked out you are by having having to be repeatedly numbed up and hearing the drills ect. If the oral surgeon anticipates any difficulty extracting the teeth or the nerve roots, it would be well worth the money to do it under general anesthesia. I personally have seen how brutal wisdom teeth extraction can be and would opt for general anesthesia regardless. Plus if anesthesia is involved, they can givie you medication during the case to help with post-op pain and nausea unless the canadian heathcare system requires them to do it cheap as possible. |

Is it true that having all your wisdom teeth removed makes you immediatley stupid?

It's the truth, no pun intended. I am a nurse anesthetist otherwise known as a CRNA. biggrin:

Sedated, I can't wait.

Alright, it's settled, Im gonna pay for it, and be put to sleep.
|
Good choice. When I had mine done ( all four, and they were impacted) I got general, and it wasn't so bad. But, I went to buy a video card after getiing it done ( with vicaden, many things are possible) and I didn't know it, but I was talking to the sales man, and my moms like, hey you're bleeding. I had blood running down my mouth. That guy must a thaught I was really fucked up.
Ahhhhhh.......the memories that the word vicaden brings back biggrin: |
All this tooth talk makes my teeth hurt.
