Moore's movie reviewed by a liberal

[url:6b076]http://slate.msn.com/id/2102723/[/url:6b076]

an excerpt:

"To describe this film as dishonest and demagogic would almost be to promote those terms to the level of respectability. To describe this film as a piece of crap would be to run the risk of a discourse that would never again rise above the excremental. To describe it as an exercise in facile crowd-pleasing would be too obvious. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of "dissenting" bravery. "

Christopher Hitchens

There ya go...a liberal journalist who trashed Reagan ("Not even a Hedgehog: the Stupidity of Ronald Reagan") cannot even stomach Moore

Merlin122 06-23-2004 07:04 AM

shut the fuck up

Mr.Buttocks 06-23-2004 07:07 AM

Hitchens is a cock. I wouldn't pay any attention to him.

Here's a crazy idea: see it for yourself and come to your own conclusions
instead of taking his as proof of Moore's incompetence/manipulation: of
course, this presupposes that you're capable of doing so. Perhaps veiled
personal opinions presented through another person to avoid responsibility
and attacks on your being ?

Zoner 06-23-2004 07:56 AM

Ex-fucking-actly.

I'll see the movie and make my own conclusions. I say that about any movie that comes out.

Roger Ebert is going to tell me what to spend $10.50 on at the theatre? I don't fucking think so.

Chappy 06-23-2004 08:01 AM

ive seen Moore's other films, one movie ticket = 2 six packs of Yuengling. Beer wins

Zoner 06-23-2004 08:48 AM

"I walk up the bar and say 'Hey! Gimme a couple of Budweisers.'"

"I can't do that."

"Why?"

"Because this isn't a bar."

"Oh really what is it?"

"This is a micro-brewery."

"Oh really, asshole. Well, why don't you go into the back and MICROBREW me up a batch of fucking Budweiser, ok, because this is America and I am very THIRSTY! Pull up your PANTS!"

Proteus 06-23-2004 08:55 AM

I don't get it.

And I fucking hate That Michael Moore fag.

Pyro 06-23-2004 09:08 AM

It's sad when you people hate a man because he has a different opinion as you.

If this man did the exact same fucking thing but with right extremist views you would all be praising the guy.

It's healthy to have a counter-balance for Moore's views...as funny as I find them.

I just think it's wrong to judge a man you've never met. I wonder how this dudes movie will do.

Zoner 06-23-2004 09:22 AM

True.

I think it'll do alright. He'll make his money back, anyway. Nothing near Moore's film, though.

i didnt like the bowling for columbine movie, im just not intrested in all that gun crap. but i will see his new one about 9/11

i have a feeling its going to be good

Zoner 06-23-2004 09:39 AM

I really liked "Bowling For Columbine".

Did it change my view of America? Well, no.

Did I get a large popcorn and enjoy the fuck out of it? Hells yeah. I even got the sumbitch refilled to bring home. biggrin:

It's a movie. Even though it's a documentary, it's still a movie; skewed and altered according to the whim of the director.

Well since i'm from Canada and all, by seeing the movie BFC I wouldn't be scared to go to America or anything. I'm sure by walking the streets in Brampton and being able to feel safe, i'll feel the same way walking anywhere in America. I do not believe it is as bad as Moore says, but crime needs to be stopped everywhere, not just America. For entertainment purposes, it did make me want to see it from beginning to end and had me watching the entire time.
