Hello,
I have a question: What is the difference between the Geforce2 MX400 64Mb +tvout and the Geforce2 Titanium TH 64Mb +tvout The only difference I see is the price the titanium is 1.6 times more expensive |
Go to sharkeyextreme or cnet to see the comparisons between the two cards... the Titanium is MUCH better in it's benchmarks therefore-the $$ difference.
------------------ Man, look at them there balls!!!!!!! |
What are benchmarks??
And what is the best manufactures is that Asus? But they are very expensive and for instance Leadtek is very cheap for the same product |

May be they are cheap at pricewatch but the places where they are cheap don't ship internationally. I found the titanium one at a Dutch store for 160 Euro and the other one (mx400) for 106 Euro
|
I do, thats why I bought a ti-200 instead of a ti-500, went with the gainward which has fast ram and it Oc's well, now I have it running a little bit faster than a stock ti-500 all for 1/2 the price. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

Frost, I found your card the
Gainward CardExpert GF3 Ti200 64Mb + TV for 259 Euro that's $222.22 Tell me if that's expensive or not Or this one Cardexpert Gainward GF3 Ti450 64Mb TV GS for 271 Euro that's $232.52 [This message has been edited by ShakesbeeR (edited January 29, 2002).] |

I only used 3DMark2001 as an example of a benchmark, I never said that it was the be all and end all of benchmarks. You are hard pressed however to find a benchmark which does a better job of testing your Direct X 8 graphics subsystems including it's new OpenGL support. So it is a good overall benchmark, and generally a higher mark will translate into a higher frame rate in any 3d game including this one. Secondly, I find that rarely is the most expensive card out there actually the best! Generally the most expensive cards come from dealers with big names, and you're paying for the name painted on the box.
Example: ASUS V8200 T5 PURE GEFORCE3 TI500 64MB DDR AGP $531.69 VISIONTEK XTASY 6964 GEFORCE3 TI 500 64MB DDR AGP W/ TV OUT & DVI RETAIL $497.28 The visiontek is $34.31 cheaper, even though the 2 card will run dead even performance wise. And finally, last time I checked asking people knowledgeable on a subject was considered a valid form of research. ------------------ Remember Dieppe http://www.ncf.ca/~eo322/sig.jpg |
I think I found a good card
Std GeForce3 Ti200 128Mb DDR € 255.00 Good card or not? Cheap or expensive Sorry to bother you guys again http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif |
You dont have time???? You had time to make all these posts, you could have read a novel by now !!!!!
|
I am just already behind my computer while doing other stuff, you can do multipple thing at once on a computer you know http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif. And with all the posts I have MSN on so I immediatly see if someone posst and I watch his or her post an d reply immediatly
|
can you read?

quote:
i wasnt even breaking it down as far as different manufacturers within a product line.

and no, asking "joe shcmoe" on an interweb forum wont give you any edjumication on anything. Mostly youll just start a flame war. Research for yourself from an unbiased source. |
Shakesbeer, don't worry about the manufacturer of a card. Whatever store has got it for the least amount of dough, go for that one. Some of the low-priced cards on pricewatch.com are built by the store directly which is generally just as good as any other manufacturer.
|
But the card that is more expensive may be better but he might not be that better as the amount of money you paid more for it.
The difference between quality and price is what I am interested in |
GeForce2 MX400 200Mhz 64MB 128-bit SDRAM, 166Mhz
Geforce2 Ti 250Mhz 64MB 128-bit DDRRAM, 400Mhz ------------------ -Frost http://home.maine.rr.com/rba/fsig2.jpg [This message has been edited by Frost (edited January 29, 2002).] |
There is a lot of difference between the two I can tell that now http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif
|
The best card is not always the most expensive. and why not just answer his questions, and let him decide if he has the level to understand.
Benchmarks are a series of tests designed to work a particular part of your computer to see how quickly and stabley it will run. i.e.: 3DMark2001 tests the graphics subsystems of your computer to tell you how well you machine can handle graphic intensive applications (read games). It runs a series of tests, and at the end gives you a number, of which the larger the number, the better. Benchmarks are often used to test 2 or more components to see which is "faster", or better. Video cards are often swapped into a system and tested so that they all run on the same platform. The card with the best benchmark numbers overall is usually the best bet, but you also have to factor in price. I.E. see www.tomshardware.com for a Geforce 3 roundup. Almost all cards run within .1% of each other, not enough of a difference to be even noticeable, and there is over a $100 spread in card prices. GeneralGenitals is right though, to get a good idea of what you're looking for, look around at the sharkey extreme, or other hardware sites,(there are many) and read a bit. I can't tell you much about those particular cards, as I haven't used or read much on them. I find the Geforce 3 Ti-200 capable of running anything I've been able to throw at it so far.... but DOOM III is coming, and that will need horsepower extreme!!! ------------------ Remember Dieppe http://www.ncf.ca/~eo322/sig.jpg |
dude....I dunno how much that card is you are eyeing...the Titanium one......go here: www.pricewatch.com
I'll bet you can get it REAL damn cheap http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/wink.gif (In case you don't wanna click the link...you can get the GF2 Ti 64MB for 80 bucks http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif) ------------------ 2nd SS Panzer Division http://www.geocities.com/moh_2ss/ PAIN GOES AWAY,CHICS DIG SCARS,BUT GLORY LASTS FOREVER http://dba.gamepoint.net/images/klaus.jpg [This message has been edited by FuBarGrn (edited January 29, 2002).] |
*yawn*
as a GENERAL rule of thumb. the more expensive card is the better card. i wasnt even breaking it down as far as different manufacturers within a product line. oh and 3dmark scores mean very little to this game. whatever happened to the edjumacated consumer? does anyone even attempt to do their own research before they slap down some coin?
