guarnere 07-11-2004 07:42 PM

i run direct x 9 games on my current shitty intel graphics card, u just have to turn the settings down, on my other comp i maxed out call of duty and mohaa on my geforce4 mx440. besides from what i was reading in the reviews the fx5500 is not that much better than the 5200 and its 20 bucks more.

Akuma 07-11-2004 08:22 PM

GeForce 4 Ti4200 or Radeon 8500. They will kick the shit out of a FX5200. You can find them for less than $50 if you search around.

What Dx9 games do you play? It doesn't matter anyways since your intel graphics card doesn't render Dx9 features. Giving a low end card the ability to render Dx9 features is pointless because it would be to slow to use them.

Sergeant_Scrotum 07-11-2004 09:05 PM

I just bought a fx5600. hope it works out weel. it was about 120$ canadian after the rebate. I looked up some stuff & it seems like the card is pretty good. this just disscontinued it so everyone is trying to sell them off.

5200 is practically a geforce 2 with a geforce 4 memory controller, 5200 = pos.

which card are u talking about?

Conscript 07-12-2004 10:04 PM

Ti4200

edit-look at the Ti4600,it will prolly only cost you like 5$ more

Short Hand 07-12-2004 10:09 PM

go for the closest to 100 $ budget fx5600. that will do you. I prefer it fo its half decent clock speed and its dx9 compatibility. so it does a half decent job.

fujimi7su 07-12-2004 10:26 PM

If your going nvidia, get the ti-4200 if you oc it, it will be fine.

If at all possible grab a ATI Radeon 9500 and flash it to 9700, great idea.

ATI rules.

Short Hand 07-12-2004 10:34 PM

DVD qaulity on the 4200 is complete shit, which I have a feeling Eames uses DVD's and the 9500 and 9700 are out of hisb udget as hed said people.

guarnere 07-12-2004 10:38 PM

WTF are you nigerians talking about? I've got a FX5200 and I run all games fucken great... stupid:

I'm running a Ti 4200 at moment with a P4 1.8 512k cache 533 FSB and a gig of ram.

I average a 120 fps in cod with the ocasional dip into the 70 on Hurtgen, Carentan I will hit 180 fps.

I've had no probelm playing DVDs on it.

I am looking at upgrading to a P4 2.8 512k cache 533 FSB and a Nvidia FX 5700 Ultra.

If you are going to get a P4 2.8, get the 800 FSB w/ HT, you wont be paying more than 20$ extra, and for another 20$ on that u can get a 1MB cache

Current system is two years old so I'm just upgrading enough to get another year out of it. I would have to replace the MB which doesnt aupport 800 FSB and that would put overbudget.
