car problems
my friend has a 92 toyota celica and it wont start. we changed spark plugs, still wont start. but it does start on occasion, like when it wants to.....then when we rev the engine something comes out of the tailpipe (water, oil?) we couldnt tell. also lots of blue smoke, smelled really bad. any ideas?
|
blue smoke means that engine oil is entering the cylinder area and being burned along with the fuel air mixture, it means that one of your gaskets/o-rings/seals has failed. if the car has more mileage, try useing a oil for older engines like catrol gtx high mileage or some shit like that...

yah got over 130k mileage

try a higher mileage oil then, or buy a new car |
would the oil itself help stop the leaking or would some of the orings and gaskets need to be tightened and replaced at a shop

I think Maple has been making love to your exhaust pipe annoy:

He needs to find a mechanic he trusts and have all the lines in the car flushed. He also needs to have a pressure check to see if there is any oil leaking, which blue smoke almost guarantees there is. If the pressure in the fuel injection lines is intermittent, or there is a leak elsewhere, that could account for the occasional starting.
Before you take it to a mechanic, though, take the car to Auto Zone. They will check the battery and alternator for you for free, and will usually also be able to tell you exactly what is wrong with your vehicle. If it's simple, they will even help you with it for free occasionally. Auto Zone rocks. |
find a mechanic who can work on that type of car. no way we can help you.

sounds like a money pit, junk it by a Mopar, and live happy for ever.

i think he means 130 miles though, 130 k for a celica is way to early for major problems,
|
Then why would we have difficulty starting the engine?

Maybe you starter is gone, could be the wires. Did you mark the wires after you took out the plugs? If you didnt mark them you could have the wires going to the wrong cylinder and could add to your problems. Sounds like you have an ignition problem and an oil problem lol |
I didn't need to mark the wires as they are attached to the side of the engine and are given specific lengths to reach each plug, so the shortest one can't reach the farthest plug.

ok
if your fireing and startign up occasionally I somethings working. check the starter, alternator, and then check the heads, and head gaskets. Next if its not any of those check the Fuel injectors. After that if its not fixed, then well...new enginge or car. |

Hm, yeah I think this engine needs a professional checkup, cause it's over 12 years old and he bought it for under 1k
