I would put the text behind him, also maybe soften the edges of him

It's too tall (180 pixels). Resize it to 150 or less and it'll be fine.

1. You resize it so it fits the size limits;

2. Make a new one that fits the size limits;

3. I remove it.

The only reason I'm a stickler for sig sizes, man, is because there'll inevitably be some asshat who'll make a 15 x 1900 sig. They'll say "Hey, it's less than 450 wide, though!"
