Another ati performance boost for doom 3

http://esprit.campus.luth.se/~humus/tem ... eTweak.rar

Extract the folder to your base directory and thats it, try running a timedemo before and after (run it twice to get the proper numbers each time).

Timedemo demo1

The tweak can cause some artificating in some cases so if it does try enabling vsync.

You should apply to id Software, Gerv.

Works for me, my fps in the timedemo went from 43 to 56.

Gerald, just install the [Interaction.vfp] file to your base folder?
.....and if it doesn't work, just simply remove the .vfp file??

Have to put it and the folder its in to your base folder. Or just create a folder called "glprogs" in base and drop it into that. If it doesn't work delete the file.

Tried it to no avail. I wish i had fps in the 40's....i'm at 25fps with my old 9500 card. I'm trying to locate either the X800 XT or GeForce 6800 Ultra.

SoLiDUS 08-11-2004 01:47 PM

I run the game at 10x7 @ High detail and I get a timedemo of 43. The file
didn't change much... I went to 43.5 or somethin'. Then again, I already
have a good system so it's not surprising that my only limitation is video.
X800 + low price, where art thou!?

Ferich 08-11-2004 01:48 PM

Gave me like .5 fps. oOo:

The game runs splendid for me 1024 and medium, no aa, or vsync.

I don't know why I didn't post this earlier oOo: Anyway, if there are any Radeon 9500 (the non-pro card) or 9800se owners out there you should try out the softmodded drivers from http://softmod.ocfaq.com/ It's a bit hit and miss in that only some cards are able to softmod, but if you're one of the lucky ones your 9500 will perform like a 9700, and your 9800se will perform like a 9800/9800pro. More details here: http://softmod.ocfaq.com/faq.php

I'm gonna try that since i have a 9500 card. I'm d/loading [3DMark03] now so i'll run tests before and after.

Arkan 08-12-2004 07:00 PM

Ok, i tried many "tweaks" and the results are in. I gotta hand it to Mr.Buttocks for digging up this tweak for us 9500 card users. I d/loaded 3DMark03 and ran some tests. Here are the results:

.......................BEFORE.............AFTER

3DMark03 :.......2919.................4413
Time Demo:......24.6fps.............35.8fps

May not be Earth shattering news but it's the best increase to date for my system.
