HT Sub Construction Pics... ALOT of pics...

Took 4 straight days from design to completion. My best work so far, still not very good, I'm too impatient to do anything like this very well :p
Anyways, I took lots of pictures... so here... skip to the bottom for finished pics

Assembled box and start to bondo...

Best "bondo" stuff I've used yet... expensive though.

Covered and started to sand...

Inside view.. ooo... the hole is for the parts express plate amp.

TONS of sanding later... I start spot puddying..

Finishing sanding...

The filler primer I used, good stuff

Primed and sanded with 1000grit and ready for paint

First coat...

Applied ED stenciled logo here... PITA...

Pretty sunset that night...

Skipped some steps... sanding, clearcoat, clearcoat, clearcoat, etc...

****FINISHED*****
ughhhh didnt clean it off for the pics well so there are a few imperfections that arent really there.

The box is tuned to 27hz or so and plays wonderfully! Shakes the whole house. It will be plenty to get lots of complaints in my dorm
It will be paired with custom cherry cabinets from Mr Marv with dayton drivers powered off a Harmon Kardon stereo reciever (100x2 @ 8ohm)
The parts express plate amp puts out full power @ 4 ohm... and since the e8a is dual 4, I had to step it up to 8ohm so it is only getting around ~150watts. Gets LOUD though.

2 12"s will be crazy in a little dorm room! This single 8 shakes the entire living room, 2 12"s would knock pictures off the walls.

KTOG 08-13-2004 02:15 PM

I live on the first floor and a buddy of mine lives on the 3rd. Our prediction is he'll be able to hear it from my room.

They are a step up from bestbuy/circuit city line ups. Mid-end stuff, but remember they are in the market with "high end" units costing 5 figures. I got mine reburbed for $250. Goes new for ~$600.

Old one? Back in the 70s/80s they were legendary :)

Maplegyver 08-13-2004 02:39 PM

bukdez 08-13-2004 02:39 PM

ohh speakers you mean! I was refering to receivers. There speakers are nothing special. Good, but they are famous for receivers not speakers.

No experience with them, their higher end sets are amazing though, I'd expect those to be decent.

Fireal 08-13-2004 02:47 PM

They're pretty good. I have them, i was just wondering how they rate.

Short Hand 08-13-2004 07:48 PM

Creatvie gigaworks 7.1 850 watt Sound System = best computer system on the market today. Unbeatable.

How much is it? Im looking for a new Comp system so i can use these for my tv.

Short Hand 08-13-2004 10:55 PM

no point in it unless you have a Creative Soundblaster Audigy ZS card to go with it. It runs for 700 Canadian, Much more worth it then a fucking video card though.

Short Hand 08-13-2004 10:58 PM

Im currently running the step down system, the Inspire 7.1 system, its great and pumps, but not thumping. The audio quality is also lacking in comprision since its not 100 % true digital. Its a great mid entry system though, goes perfectly with my fortissimo 7.1. Still though nothing compared to the gigaworks system.
