Sequel to FREDDY VS. JASON in the works
The rumors about FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH are true. Today's Hollywood Reporter confirms that New Line Cinema has entered discussions with director Sam Raimi, the fellow who helmed the three EVIL DEAD pictures and who owns the copyright to Ash, the sarcastic hero of the DEAD trilogy. If a deal can be reached, Ash will go up against the two horror slasher icons in the sequel to last summer's FREDDY VS. JASON. In that case, it's expected that Bruce Campbell will strike a deal to play Ash for the fourth time. It's unlikely that Raimi would direct the film; he's got plans to helm SPIDER-MAN 3 (set for release in May 2007), but Raimi would likely take a producing credit on the VERSUS film.

Last seen on-screen in 1993's ARMY OF DARKNESS, Campbell's Ash has remained a popular cult hero amongst the horror fandom. The rumors about Ash being added to the fray first popped up at Creature Corner a year ago this month and were then revisited by Fangoria in October 2003.

Reporter adds a new item by stating that if a deal cannot be worked out with Raimi, New Line will still continue to develop FREDDY VS. JASON 2, possibly by introducing a new antagonist for the two killers to face off against.[/quote:64e1e]

draken_sd, no one really one in FvJ. Jason cut off Freddy's head but at the end he winks and laughs, showing that Freddy is still alive. Also the whole thing could have been in Jason's dreamworld. So there is no definite winner.

Freddy vs. Jason 2 is cool but fvj vs ash now thats funking retarded

Hollywood 08-18-2004 10:10 PM

I disagree, movies need to go in a new direction these days. Everything is predictable, not that a crossover isn't but really it hasn't been done like this, taking three cult characters from different franchises and pitting them against each other.

Gerard you need to pick up Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, great cult horror movies. The first Evil Dead is very low budget but is still a decent horror flick from way back in the day.

Infernal_ 08-18-2004 10:48 PM

Ya but ash always fought evil comedic characters, which stonewall jason is definitley not, freddy has a sense of humor but u cant even relate it to a comedy character such as ash

I think it could work with the right script. Linking the Necronomicon backstory and having an S-Mart open a new store in Crystal lake is pure gold. rock:

Sirus 08-19-2004 08:17 AM

I can see it now, freddy stumbles to crystal lake in order to get revenge on jason and in the midst of the killing frenzy ash's new store opens and he's there to stop the evil, once more oOo:

I think Freddy vs Jason would have been a lot better if it had better acting, less cheesy dialogue and they kept this ending in...

"Freddy and Jason are battling to the death on the dock. After the explosion, they end up in the fiery lake, and then something strange starts to happen. The water begins to move, churning... and the lake begins to drain. Within the water, there is a hole that has opened at the bottom of the lake bed, glowing red. Freddy tries to swim away, but Jason puts a death lock on his ankle, and they're both dragged down. The next day, Crystal Lake is completely dry. And Lori is reunited with her father. Then they walk down into the dry lake. Dr. Campbell see's Freddy's claw on the ground and he picks it up, vowing to destroy it for good. And then, a red and green striped arm bursts through the earth, grabs Dr. Campbell's leg and pulls him down. With one leg buried in the ground, he screams for Lori, but is yanked again, his other leg breaking against his chest at an impossible angle. Then he's gone. Lori claws at the dirt for him, screaming......and then there is a scene that takes place somewhere very dark. Freddy puts his claw back on his hand. He sees Jason near him, machete gleaming. They go at each other...but then, chains shoot out, slicing into both of them. They're separated, struggling to go at each other...when out from the darkness comes Pinhead and he says "Now. What seems to be the problem?"

However, New Line didn't like the idea because they didn't like the fact that they'd have to buy the rights to use the character, and they thought Pinhead was too low rent.

Sirus 08-19-2004 12:48 PM
