Eh? I hadn't heard anything about this.. downloading now.. hope it doesn't fudge things up like SP1.

Only problems I have heard of was Outlooks keeps trying to open a Journal everytime they send something..

nothing special. firewalls shite and annoying, turned it all off. only decent thing is the pop up blocker which is quite good.

maybe there a few underlying patches for xp that fix flaws yet found by the public/hackers.

It's mostly security fixes, shit most people won't notice, but everyone using XP should install it. Other than that its fine, except for the gay windows firewall security shit.

This paranoia over hacks and security flaws is insane and irrational. Just
encrypt your damn drives and ghost your machine: OOPS! No longer any
use for SP2 or constant safety updates!

That's the attitude that lead to thousands upon thousands of idiots getting infected with the Blaster worm. The patch was out for a month or two before the vulnerability in question was exploited, but still tons of people didn't bother their arse visiting Windows Update, and when the virus spread nearly every computer-related message board on the net was flooded with "OMFG WHY IZ MY PC REBOOTING!!!!1".

on another note.. thoughs who updated to SP2.. does ur default boot screen say WindowsXP Professional or Home? Cuz mine doesnt say Professional anymore, lol just has Windows XP

it's good, although my comp seems to show a network connection that is limited, i dont get it, it i disable it my internet goes kaput, but it is a seperate network connection... i dunno...

So, because I'm not as paranoid about updates as you are means I should
get easily infected ? I keep my A.V. up to date but I don't take outstanding
precautions like you do. The result ? I almost never get anything. In fact, it's
hard for me to remember the last time I had to revert to an old ghost.

Keep your shit to yourself. If the average pawns can't figure out how to use
a computer without resorting to extraordinary security measures, they should
stay away from pc's...

Yeah but that's the problem - MOST people who use a PC are too fucking dumb to even realise that they're supposed to keep their system patched. Now, if you don't keep your OS up-to-date that's up to you, and if you haven't been infected with anything - that's great! If you practise "safe computing" - great x2! Most people don't. annoy:

Sadly a fair old chuck of the virii floating about right now are as a direct result of people not patching up known vulnerabilities in their OS, same goes from asshats running without anti-virus software. spank:

And anyway, I'd hardly call installing SP2 an "extraordinary" security measure. eek:

Window Blinds works for me with SP2. But it forced me to install media player 9 and that pissed me off, I tried to avoid that for a long time. Oh well, can't turn back now I guess..

It's like terrorism. Sure, there's always been some but now we're putting it

Calculate the odds and honestly tell me you're a cracker's potential target.
If you get hit, you're just very unlucky. Otherwise, a well updated antivirus

Immediately after installing Service Pack 2 Windows decided to freeze during start up and nothing would let it go through. So naturally the only thing to do was format and reinstall.
