US and Canadian Border Patrol/Police/whatever have been dicks since I first visited Montreal for the formula 1 race in like 96. It's understandable though, they want to keep the scum out.

They search your car, check birth certificates, ID and last year they interrogated me and my friends. I kid you not, actually put us in a room one by one and interviewed us because we didn't have any food in the car....

It just really matters who the guy is, what mood he's in, terrorism threat levels ( oOo: ),etc. In 99 and 2000 we didn't get any shit from them. Just an ID check and a go ahead.

I can see windsor ontario out my window, so I've crossed the border more times than I care to count. The legal drinking age there is 19, so all of us detroiters essentially can drink at 19 by taking a 10 minute drive SOUTH to canada. I used to go every weekend, sometimes twice. The border here in detroit is pretty lax, they realize that a lot of kids are just going bar hopping so they don't give you too much shit. Its alot worse getting into the US than getting into Canada, at least here.

Although i've never had a problem crossing the boarder, but that is because whenever I ahve it has been with my family. I'm sure if I were with my friends going to or coming from the states, we'd probably get harrased.

And the Sweet Grass border is in Alberta/Montana. The one i've traveled a few times. It's pretty small. It's a 4 lane highway that goes through there.
