Different Majors in Education
It's my senior year and I'm filling out all of my applications right now. This has been some of the most stressfull times of my life. They say Junior year is hard? Hell, right now this is the worst knowing that the one little decision in your major can decide the rest of your life (positive or negative ways).
I'm applying to PennState right now and I should easily get in with my grades (4.0gpa, bunch of clubs, and volunteer work). The hardest thing is deciding what I want to do with my life. I've been thinking so much about it for the past month or so and I think I've narrowed it down to two things: Music Education and/or composition OR Chemistry. Yeah, talk about two totally different majors. I remember "Stryker" and I think he was a Chem major if I'm not mistaken. (What ever happened to him btw?) What have you guys majored in? |
im majoring in Television production, broadcast w/e. Dont stress too much. choose what you want right now and if you feel like switching later do it. its not your whole life just 4 years....maybe more.

Computer Engineering Technologies
Basically Electrical Engineering with a hint of Computer Programming. And don't worry about your major now. You can always change it down the road. |
Same here, just started grade 12. Im kinda caught up in quite a few different ones, I have allways wanted to be a cop but I know some people that are going into/ allready are in the the program and their all asshole jocks. The course also involves alot of physical stuff which i dont really care for. Next we have heavy equpiment operator or mechanic, im very good with mecanical stuff such as cars But I dont really want to do that. My auto teacher keeps telling me I should go for airplane mechanics, I just got a part time job working all afternoon at an airport so il see how I like that, Iv been there one week and so far it seems pretty cool. I do have to stay an extra semister next year due to lost credits so I have a bit more time to decide still. My parents still keep bugging me to start appling for universitys, cant people understand that not everyone wants to go do 5 years of post secondary only to work in a cubical the rest of their lives?

well the problem with me switching my majors are the courses associated with both. Music education/composition is all music stuff with hardly any emphasis on math or science. Then the chem part of it is nothing but math and science and labs.
Like you guys are saying, there is time to switch. We'll see what happens and right now I'm just hoping for the best. |
im in the same situation. I think I know where Im going to go, but I dont know what I'd major in. I've thought of Political Science and/or journalism. (I'm run for president in 2024!!!,. Vote for ME!) Ive also thought about getting a degree in english and teaching, or even History.
PS: VOTE ME 2024!!!!!!!!!! rock: |
Well first, you dont have to decide your major right away. Take some music and chem courses your first two semesters and see which you like more. If you still cant decide then go for a double major. Im a freshmen in college and im really interested in psychology and art, two totally different majors with different requirements, but im thinking about going for a double major. It gives you the freedom of not having the problem of working in a job in one field and finding out you dont like it and then not having any other options. You dont have to decide right away what your major is, especially since your still a senior in HS. Their are kids in college that are Juniors that still dont know their major. Also their are kids that are so sure what their major is gonna be and then they change. You cant imagine how many pre-med majors ive met that dont want to do that anymore. Keep your options open and see what you like.

My cousin graduated about 5 years ago. He got a full scholorship to Dartmouth University, he just graduated from there, and now he is in his first year of yale, with yet again a full scholorship. He still isnt sure what he wants to do. So dont worry about it.

I drifted from one major to the next:
Police Sciences General Sciences Computer Science ... and now Computer Systems Tech. I like this program but after finishing it I plan on going in Philosophy or Psychology. Not being able to choose sucks! |

If you declare a difficult major, it is more difficult to be accepted. Better chance of being accepted by either going undeclared or declaring a major they're trying to get people into that is relatively new and just declare a new major second semester. |

Business Administration is probably the most versatile degree you can get. You can do anything from running your own business to administrating an entire hospital to being the CEO of a Fortune 500 company.
I'll have my Associates in BA in March, my Bachelors the following April and my MBA the following February. Good shit. |

[quote="Bean 2":9a58c]You got it. And what did u do your dissertation on? Also, do you or did you like being a psychologist?[/quote:9a58c]
I didn't further my studies in Psych after I got my degree. I was going to go into guidance counselling, but I figured I'd end up choking the shit outta some miscreant kid. I didn't have to do a dissertation for my Bacehlor's degree, per se. I did have to do a major paper for the mandatory 4th year "Philosophy of Psychology" course. All psych majors had to take and pass that bastard of a course in order to get their degree. I did mine on gender differences in cognitive mapping and spatial/directional memory. Yeah, it was an exciting read for sure. sleeping: |

1. Girls suck at drawing maps from memory. Guys significantly better.
2. Girls significantly better than guys at re-tracing steps verbally 3. No significant difference in physically re-tracing steps 4. Guys better than girls in remembering environmental landmarks 5. Both genders adversely affected by white noise when asked to perform cognitive mapping and memory tasks. |

When the happens, I'll be more than willing to form a lawsuit against any resturaunt who does not have the necessary accessibilities for a crippled man in a wheel chair, and when I scrape my knuckles on the hard, rocky walls, I will have my lawyer sue you!
