Add a plugin to Ad-aware and similar programs that shoots off e-mails containing a list of programs and offenders to the FBI cyber crime division or something.

You'd have to make it... it was a suggestion for a means of reporting violators.

No matter what is done though spyware will always exsist. Lawers will simply make more money writing and re-writing privacy policies, and software terms of use. Microslut will still install spyware with every update and you will accept it because they snuck one sentance about the update containing spyware, somewhere in the 15 page software agreement.
Will you report porn sites that give you spyware? Or will you accept it because after all, it is a porn site. You wouldnt want the government or some lawer to know you were looking at THAT. In the end it may give you privacy from some company gathering information, but it then hands that same information to the government or who ever gives a shit, when you report that someone did infact place "spyware" on your PC. It may frighten a few small companies out of the game but others will find the more than obvious loop holes in what is undougbtably a pourly writen and frankly ill conceived law. This is what happens when government officals (senators and alike) get feathers up there ass about something, but lack a true understanding of what the fuck is going on. They may have passed a "law" but its effect will be less than minimal on the general public. |
