I voted Bush. I don't think he'll win though. If he doesn't I hope Kerry does a good job. I'll try not to whine like the liberals always do.

No shit it was sarcasm....liberals: "more welfare for the unfortunate single mother of 6, less strict drug laws for the innocent urban youth, lighter sentencing for criminals, furlough Willie Horton, less spending on defense, not enough body armor in Iraq, more gun control"....In short the government should solve everyone's problems with higher taxes.

bukdez 11-02-2004 11:05 AM

rofl...

typical individualistic money mongering attitude... we're humans, and we're in this together, whats wrong with paying a little extra to help those who are less priviliged, not everyone can be as smart and successful as people like us... why not help to enable them to contribute more or anything to society... do you blame homeless people for being homeless?... no one can be homeless, where did thier house go?... the problem is that inadequate medical care for poor people has led to mass estrangement and addiction, these people need help, not hate...

Chappy 11-02-2004 12:01 PM

Your sentiments are how I view America and the rest of the world. I've got no problem helping out the less fortunate. I think it's our responsiblilty as humans to respond to people who are truly in need. It's the sense of entitlement to government sponsored programs by some individuals that erks me. Instead of throwing good money after bad at social programs that many have come to view as their right, the system needs a serious overhaul. I'm probably a little jaded living and working in the DC area. I used to be a circulation manager for USA Today and being in the city at 3am I got to see the dregs of society at their finest. I saw first hand many of the things that are routinely posted here. Excuse me if I don't sympathize with the people who routinely harassed me just for doing my job.

The truth is I don't believe that George Bush is a rocket scientist. I would even be inclined to vote Democratic if they would have nominated a candidate who was a little more centered. Alas, the primaries tend to be more a contest of who can be the polar opposite of the other party. I guess that's why we'll never see good sensible people like John McCain nominated. At any rate, I don't think Kerry will do any worse than Bush, he's just not my cup of tea. Simple as that.

#1 Worst Reason for a Government to do something: Because They Can.

The rich pay the taxes, dont care what John Kerry is trying to tell you.

Well, from where i stand, Bush invaded Iraq because he had the power to do so. All he had to do was sacrifice some of his people for the effort.

All depends on how you interpret what happaned and a personal bias going into the discussion. The administration wanted Saddam out as did the Clinton administration.

All this would have been moot if Congress hadnt authorized the use of military assets.

actually the 'middle-class' pays most of the taxes... and what i'm saying is: work together to eliminate some of the gap between the classes, and everyone will be paying taxes... how can you stimulate an economy where more than 1/2 the people can barely afford to live?... how can you support a government that 'cares' more for the well-being of Iraqis than it's own people?...

tomxtr 11-02-2004 03:50 PM

in the same thread. Am I to conclude that you meant to qualify your first statement by only including Americans. Is it also safe to conclude that your heart bleeds for the people who are not as "smart and successful" in the US, but does not extend to the poor souls unfortunate enough to be born in that shithole in the desert. I just want to understand where the liberals draw the line.

i fully get what you are saying... the first qoute was meant as a specific reply to the situation in America/North America, the second reply is meant to indicate that if the situation at home is bad enough to warrent such debate, than why should time and resources be spent to fix problems in other countries?... I think it is good that a country as powerful as the US would aim to help the less fortunate, I just question the motive behind it... In essence my posts were both a little tongue-in-cheeck in style, specifically the reference to 'smart and successful' people and to the situation in Iraq...

Uuuum, don't want to shit on your parade but the 'upper class', or people who make some number or more(like 250g or so a year) pay 30%(somewhere in that area) to the federal government. Middle class only pays 15 or 17 or w/e the fuck.

But, John Kerry gets out of paying his amount of taxes because he gives the bare minimum to just sneak under the radar by giving a small amount to charity. Kerry wants to raise taxes to the middle class.
