Halo 2 is a big dissapointment
 

I haven't been on Bungie's boards but I decided to visit tonight because I am absolutely disgusted with the way this game came out. I mean when you devote 3 years to develope a game that is a sequel to one of the most popular games of all time you would figure that said sequel would have a little more depth. With all of the negative response I wouldn't be surprised if you see used copies by the truckload stacked up at your local game retailer.

This is one of the most unoriginal shallow games I have played in a long time. For one thing, haven't they been showcasing how this game is supposed to take place on earth? Two levels at the beggining of the game and then it's off to another halo. The whole game is basically a repeat of the first one with the same boring loops and a couple of new aliens thrown in. The first Halo started to become very redundant towards the end but it still was an enjoyable game because the story kept it going. In Halo 2 there really is no story, except you have to fight the same aliens again and do the same exact thing you had to do in the first game.

I am playing multiplayer with friends and it's ok, but I buy games usually for the single player and boy was this a big letdown.

And the ending? There is no ending, the game ends and you just sit there wondering why you just played this game.

First Doom 3 and now Halo 2, can't wait for Half Life 2.


PS- They spent all that time on the E3 demo where you are on earth fighting the aliens and none of that happens in the game. I think they probably tried to make this game too big and ended up scrapping a bunch of ideas.

I dunno im finding it interesting so far, the whole point of showing it was on earth in the trailers was travelling to another halo was obviously meant to be a big plot twist. Its part 2 of a 3 part game so i expect the ending to be a cliffhanger, reviewers have already said the ending for halflife2 is a cliffhanger as well so it shouldn't come as any suprise to anyone if the ending is sort of abrupt.

As for the game, its far beyond the awsomeness of the first. Far fewer repeating "maps". Im probably only about half way through, i'll wrap up the other half this afternoon, but so far its been a pretty good balence. Im not completly thrilled about the split story line, but its for a good purpose i suppose, probably more building blocks for halo 3 than anything else. Overall id say most reviewing sites are pretty dead nuts on with there scores. Though i do wish they would stop bitching about the ending, since most should know, that it is like gerv said, part 2 of 3.

Think the screen split has something to do with tv aspect ratio, for me its down the middle which is pretty annoying to play co-op with.

WTF are you guys talking about??, this game is fucking amazing. sure there is a few graphic loading problems, but they can only fit so much on a single disc. the sp is fun as shit, the co-op fucking fucking pwns. the mp is the best part of the game.

Halflife 2 is single player oriented, comes with cs source but the focus of the game is single player. Original halo was single player oriented as well.

Halo is the only thing that is keeping the shit-box alive...Bill has lost so much money with that thing its amazing...I think he should concentrate on fixing his OS's rather than making shitty FPS for consoles

Well i think there are alot better games than Halo 2 on PS2, and not many better than Halo 2 on Xbox.

Xbox has plenty of good games around for it, halo is basically a flagship game all consoles have one. Secondly hows halo 2 shitty exactly?

Theres also more shite games on ps2, most of the playstation library is stuff from the ps1 thats backwards compatible.

I hate super futuristic FPS with plasma cannons and chain guns.....thats why I never enjoyed any of those types of FPS and consider them shitty

Thats what I play now...but I also enjoy current games such as the Delta force series and Im looking @ BF2 when it comes out.

I'm just kiddin'. I agree that UO's single player is much of the same old same old, but I don't buy these games for the SP missions anyway.

I have Pacific Assault collectors edition sitting on my table collecting dust, anyone know if the single player is any good?

halo2 was cool but too complicated for my taste. i like the original alot! yesterday my friend picked up halo2, but we had a huge halo (the first one) LAN game and it was awesome. then we switched over to halo2 and found the guns and vehicles were cool but the shield only wasn't good, the maps complexity was too disorienting and it was hard to find my our way around, and the sword was pretty bad with a one hit kill there was no 1 that didnt use it. plus they changed the assault rifle to burst fire, wth is up with that?!

anyway to sum this up, halo2 was good but was expected to be better. i prefer halo over halo2 for now.

It's an xbox setting, not a halo setting. I just figured this out since mine was the same. Apparently the tv was set to widescreen, which mine is not. So that might be your problem, if you haven't already got an answer for this. I dunno, I didn't really read the rest of the thread. dance:
