Speaking to GameSpot, a Sony rep clarified the situation further, saying, "You can play all of the demos including VJ2 as long as you remove the mem cards."

Same here, i just get a laugh of watching the frame rate bomb to single digits if 3 or so explosions go off in front of you.

Its rare that games do get released "incomplete", ps2 and gamecube, games work out of the box, why? Because theyre a fixed platform, they all have the same comonents so if a game works on one it will work on them all. Now consider how many components make up a pc, consider theres literally hundreds of different motherboard brands and a lot more that are just baseline motherboard with no real brand. same goees for sound cards, memory and a load of different pci devices, tv cards, tuners etc.

Then you have to factor in drivers, is a driver for an unbranded sound card causing a bug or is it one of the other components. Theres literally thousand of different pc configurations available, each one with their own little quirks, no way any game developer can get each one of these configurations in for testing, some countries may have makes of sound cards\ram that others dont. Its not a bit of wonder that some games dont work on some pc's, console makers have a hell of a lot of an easier time because if a game works on one playstation or one xbox its gonna work on them all.

Pc gaming by far is a lot better than console gaming, can consol games have mods? nope, can console games get updated? with the exception of xbox, nope. Consoles get outdated graphically fast, pc's have new hardware around every so many months that surpases consoles. Is it expensive? yeah, so what, it can be considered a hobby and some of those are expensive.


Anyway.

Go play halflife 2, and shut the hole.

i like gta. i played vice city at least twice. one of the best games i ve played.

GTA SA has more side quests than your average RPG

i like consoles, but the only problem is the fps games. ps2 boring most of the time so.... sleeping: ... this new doesnt affect me

True, the PC can get mods done to it - but seriously. . .why would I want to ahve to wait around for someone to mod a game to give me more OOMPH for my dollar - when I can get a game with enough OOMPH right out of the box. PC is great for FPS and really - thats about it. In all other genres - it gets its ass SEVERELY kicked by the console.

Funny, just about everyone else thats played it agreed it lived upto expectations. Whenever a game comes along on console that uses physics as gameplay components plus parts of the environment to the degree that halflife 2 has them then give me a call, i dont expect it to be anytime soon because the consoles dont have enough horsepower to pull it off.

You make it sound like there were 1 or 2 FPS's ever made, when there are tons out on PC that are 100x better than those featured on console. Racing games are also very good on PC (Need For Speed, etc...), especially if you buy a racing wheel and pedals, but reguardless, using arrow keys is not tough. In what other genres does the PC get its ass handed to them?

And a lot of PS2 games imo do not have enough oomph, so at least with computer you can do something about that. PS2 basically you have just wasted your money.

you get more for the money with a console, honestly
theyre the best option for most gamers, especially those on a budget

plus theres hardly ever a problem with them, and you never really have to have any knowledge at all to work them

oh BTW HL2 isnt bad, not really "FUN" for very long tho..... i got bored with it in about 2 days.... maybe ill buy it for the MP.. IDK yet

The major thing with both is that PS2 games get boring real quick. Even the GTA's.

With PC you can be playing multiplayer games such as MoH:AA forever and not get bored with the same gameplay.

Consoles can be fun but when you compare the latest console to the latest pc you start seeing how weak they are, as soon as you buy a console its pretty much immediately dated, its "great" graphics get surpassed in a few months, assuming theyre upto snuff with pc in the first place.

None of the current console interested me that much and ive got 2 of them, xbox and gamecube, aside from halo + halo 2 ive yet to find anything of interest on the xbox, about 10 games for that . Gamecube ive like 12 games or so for, the only one that keeps me coming back is mariokart.

This console generation is the first one to bore me, i was brought up on console gameing through the atari 2600, nes,snes,n64. But these days pc war\military based first person shooters seem to be the only thing to hold my interest. Halflife 2 being not being military based suprised me at how much it drew me into the game.


Dunno how you can say half life 2 isn't fun for long, the sheer number of ways of killing enemies once you have the gravity gun can be fun in itself for ages, first game ive played ive actually enjoyed "puzzle solving" usually i see that and just don't bother but hl2 kept me interested right up untill id finished it, not alot of games i can say that about.

I still play it, but im not all that entertained anymore.... maybe its not the game, maybe shooters are just getting old... i need to go pick up EQ2 .. lol
