Its now known that more than 10,000 people have died and its still rising, my sister was in Fuket just 2 months ago.... Worst earthquake in 40 years after Chile in 1960 where I think it hit about 9.5 on the Richter scale, this one was 8.9

They said the earthquake started off the coast of indonesia so i imagine they are fine considering the waves wouldn't have much distances to build up if it was next to a large land mass.
