Just wondering... Has there ever been a game released where you play the part of a non-NATO soldier who infiltrates and kills enemy (ie. Allied) soldiers?

In MOHAA DM games you get to play on the Axis side and nobody seems to really have problems machine-gunning the Allied troops. There are also lots of RTS games where you play the Axis side without any moral dilemma. So what about in a SP game?

In these days of feverish flag-waving, anything interpreted as anti-American would probably be viewed very critically. Regardless of whether it was historically accurate.

Well, personally, I would never buy a game where you JUST played as Germans or Axis. That would just plain suck. However, if there were both Allies and Axis SP modes available, then I'd buy it considering everything else of course...

Why shouldn’t a SP-axis game "just" be based upon the same mission-types as Allied?

Did not the Germans fight like the allies in WW2?

first of all i am one of thoso jewish ppl u talk about and u would be amazed how wrong u are i for one lost 20 realtives in the holocaoust but i respected the gearmen army for the power it was i don't respect the grops responsible for the war crimes i know for a fact that there were even germen soldiers that killed them self after seeing some of the stuff that append there and about the game i don't think it would be banned by the jewish ppl saince most of us don't care as long as there aren't stuff like "go in to the villge and round them all up to the town center" and for the guy who said that it isn't possible to make a game with out thoso missions than u should shut the hell up cause the gearmen army did plenty of things beside killing minortys

Before I start, I'm going to have to write this little disclaimer: I'm not anti-semetic, nor am I anti-American, nor am I a racist, or any other kind of bigot. I might be a little cynical, but I'm just being realistic.

Yes, most of you are right when you say it would be politically incorrect to release a game where you play the role of a German or a Nazi.

Why? Several reasons.

1. No North American software company would touch this type of game. Not only would it quickly garnish negative national attention because of its subject matter, i.e. killing Americans, especially in the wake of 9/11. I can guarentee it would also be brought up as an issue in the House or Congress. Lieberman would have a field day. Politicians and media conglomerates alike love this kind of issue. Look at Mortal Kombat - that was only an issue of violence, not anti-patriotism or anti-semetism. The game would be banned in no time, or major retailers would pull it anyway. Special interest groups are more subversive and powerful that many think, even with issues like videogames.

2. Despite the stereotype, Jews control the entertainment industry. It's a fact, whether you like it or not. Spielberg had his hands and money all over MOHAA, in case you didn't know. Do you honestly believe a game that depicts Germans or Nazi's killing the Allies would fly? Even if it didn't have any depictions of the Holocaust, it would never get off the ground. Even if it did, getting advertising for it would be impossible.

3. There are loads of excellent European software companies out there, but the success of their product depends heavily on success in North American where PC use is far greater. It would be suicide to try to release a game that would most certainly never make it to retail shelves.

So, you see? It isn't going to happen. At least not for a very, very long time. The atrocities committed in Europe only happened sixty years ago. Many of the people persecuted are still alive. Many of the young men who risked their lives for our freedom are still alive. Their courageous acts will never be disrespected, especially not in a videogame.

Remember, the good guys always win.

Playing Axis SP can be done, depending on the objective given. I mean, if the objective is to kill 1,000 innocent ppl by raiding a town, then thats totally politically incorrect. But if you have objectives such as in Axis MP, such as planting a bomb, destroying a bridge, etc., I guess it would be okay...but then that raises the question, can a whole Axis SP game be based on objectives like that?
