taking one week plus for shipping and large shipping prices, especially true for canadians, u need a credit card and thats about all u need to start right up

Bucknub 03-06-2005 08:37 PM

it depends how whatever company you are buying things from wants u to pay, the main way is credit card also debit and money orders if u feel like waiting longer.

if u get a pay pal account u can link it to ur debit card and transfer funds through that. luckily most all people that sell things online accept paypal, ebay mostly.

Sometimes check out the best buyers bureau if your shady on the place youre buying from. it will give you feedback on how reliable/trustworthy the site/business is.

as loing as your card has the numbers on the front xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx and an exp date, and a logo (visa, mastercard, etc.) then your good to go. make sure you order from good companies, but most are based in the us, so you will have to pay a lot of shipping. i work for an online store, and we have a store in canada and the us. but we ship things internationally to other countries all the time. it gets EXPENSIVE. so just beware aobut that. anything else?

Bucknub 03-06-2005 09:08 PM

ok

and what's this I hear about 'customs', I have to pay that ontop of shipping.

and what if Im buying things that are IN Canada, do I still have to pay for shipping? if I do, will it be much?

it really depends on the size / weight of whatever u buy.

i have never had to pay customs that i know of.

Bucknub 03-06-2005 09:14 PM

ok. say someone wants to receive payment within 3 days, is it a good idea to use debit? since it doesnt transac fast enough

ninty 03-06-2005 09:14 PM

oOo:

Shipping costs depends on the company. there isn't a law that says if somehting is shipped within the same country, its free, aslthough that would be nice.

if you buy from amazon.ca and order over $39, shipping is free.

if you buy from ebay say a DVD shipping will cost between $3-8 for one dvd. it really depends on the seller.

Most stuff you won't have to pay customs on. I'm not sure how they decide what you have to pay customs on and what you don't. DVD's and shit like that from the states I don't think i've paid customs, however, i ordered a shitr once and i had to.

Infernal_ 03-06-2005 09:16 PM

what are you paying through. or dont u know

cause pay pal takes 8 days to get money from ur account to the other persons account since ur in canada.

unless u have money in ur pay pal account then it will prolly take only 3

i usually just use amazon, most new releases if there are enough pre orders it gets something like 33% off some prices are even with retail but others are cheap.

Futureshop.ca has free shipping, but about the same prices as they have in-store.

Bucknub 03-06-2005 09:44 PM

there are no other stores? I hoping by buying shit online I can get it for cheaper.

ninty 03-06-2005 10:15 PM

we opened an account just for online purchases. BankOne (in Michigan) has an account tied to a credit card. This way if anyone gets our info there is nothing to take. When we want to buy something online we just transfer the funds into our "online" account from one of our other accounts and our other cards and accounts are safe from prying eyes and/or thieves

Other people whoring the bids, more than just one person on any one item usually.

Also, there is an option that you can put your maximum price you're willing to pay.

Say the item starts off at $10 and you bid $13. Then you look back an hour later and see that the person bidded $15. You can then set a max bid that will automatically raise the person that is trying to out-bid you. So you set your max bid to $25. The thing will only increase your bid amount by the lowest intervall allowed by the seller. So now you have your max bid at $25 and someone goes and bids $18. It will automatically raise your bid to $20 (if it's a 2 dollar increment) and will keep raising it if someone tries to beat you. But it will only add more money up till the 25 dollar mark. If someone bids 26 dollars, then you will have to go in manually and out-bid them.

Bucknub 03-07-2005 01:29 PM

ah, that must be it then.
