Drew 03-09-2005 09:31 PM

These new generations are getting more and more fucked up.

God damned skater kids whose parents are too engrossed with Dr. Phil to beat the shit out of them when they deserve it.

Save the world, beat the fuck out of a 12-year old.

Duke_of_Ray 03-09-2005 09:32 PM

Yup, my brother is 12...my dad threatens him with a beat down if he fucks up, and goes upside his head when he talks back.

Good kid he is.

I don't know if this is true. Every generation says this. I'm not denying the fact there are fucked up people out there, but there have always been fucked up people out there.

"The children now love luxury; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in places of exercise. Children are tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when their elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties [food] at the table, cross their legs and tyrannise their teachers"

When do you think this quote is from?

Socrates, fourth century BC

"The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence [respect] for their parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint; They talk as if they alone know everything and what passes for wisdom in us foolishness in them. As for the girls, they are foolish and immodest and unwomanly in speech, behaviour and dress" (Peter the Hermit, eleventh century AD).

"Our young men have grown slothful. There is not a single honourable occupation for which they will toil night and day. They sing and dance and grow effeminate and curl their hair and learn womanish tricks of speech; They are as languid as women and deck themselves out with unbecoming ornaments. Without strength, without energy, they add nothing during life to the gifts with which they were born - then they complain of their lot" (Seneca, first century AD).

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise [disrespectful] and impatient of restraint" (Hesiod, eighth century BC).

Blase 03-09-2005 11:45 PM

I scared my mom when I was talking to her about this,

I said one line that freaked her out.

"If I were alone with this kid in a room, just me and him. I honestly don't think he'd come out in non-critical condition"

The way I said it was so serious, and I really was. I don't think I'd let this kid live if it were up to me.

strvs 03-09-2005 11:52 PM

Yea, its probably the skateboarding that made him crazy. Maybe he was playing doom 3 and listening to Marilyn Manson too? sleeping:

Whatever happened to just plain "crazy?"

I used to skateboard, still do sometimes, and i would never think of doing something this awful. Skater stereotypes are fucking stupid, and usually dished out with very little knowledge behind them. People just need to lay the blame on something.

Drew 03-09-2005 11:59 PM

I still say if you give a 12-year old one good knock upside the head, they'll get right.

That may sound insane, but I agree 100%

I'd love to carry out some of those punishments.

this is why I'd make a horrible, horrible, parent.

Youths just get more media coverage these days. I doubt they are even worse than ther adolesents of the 50s, 60s and 70s. Fuck Id bet we are better.

But I agree with the fact that skaters are gay.

Sgt>Stackem 03-10-2005 06:54 AM

one of the problems with todays kids is all the single parent homes. No father figures around to knock them into shape. You get all these mamas boys whining and crying for what they want. Im not saying my generation didnt have its problems but I think this is the largest problem with kids today

thats just a pity... I feel bad for the old man...
BTW, I dont know whether some of u are being serious about hitting a kid, but threatening/abusing a kid is definetly not the right way to set him straight. IMO, its more of the parents fault that the kids, because kids feel so distanced from their parents. This is what I noticed when I was a kid. Sure kids talk back, etc, but all kids do it, its natural for a kid, as he or she is on his way to adulthood, to develop their own views and feelings about different things, and the attitude of a lot of people, even on these very forums, is a big reason y kids are lead to talk back, misbehave, etc Simply put, a kids views are not accepted. ive been on these forums long enuf to know that if some 13 year old starts talking about politics, he will probably get flamed somewhat like this "Youre to young to have ur own opinion u whiny bitch and ur too young to vote so go home and complain to your parents." A lot of parents really dont know how to be good parents, they get excited to have kids etc, promise themselves thell be good parents, but when the time comes they end up failing to understand them, which leads to problems.

Sgt>Stackem 03-10-2005 02:13 PM

Trunks, what you say is partially true. i am a firm beliver of spanking the kids when needed or even a whack on the back of the head. That being said I have had to do that once with my daughter (11 yrs old) and twice with my son (6 yrs old.) I think too many kids are spoiled. There are a ton of parents that are just a joke letting the kids do whatever the hell they want, always talking back to adults and so on. You know these kids, you have seen them in malls, stores or school. I know I am raising kids that will be an asset to the world and not a detrement to it.

Trunks 03-10-2005 02:23 PM

Well, not trying to attack u specifically, but I believe talking to kids, and guiding them to come to the conclusion that they were wrong and/or they should behave better in the future by themselves will mean a lot more than forcing it on them by doing something physical. Of course words must be used properly too, some parents cause just as much pain with words as they would by physically hitting the child. That is why I say that some parents rush parenting, and arent physically or mentally ready for the responsibilities that having a child entails. And some parents just arent meant to have kids at all, its sad to know that there are thousands of kids who are physically beaten, etc by their parents.

I never talk back to my parents because I respect them. I understand that they do alot for me and deserve better treatment than some kid being a brat to their faces. Also, one time when I was a kid, my mother put dish washing liquid soap in my mouth a few times when ever I did say something wrong (younger than 8 years old). I've never really had a problem since then.

The soap will prevent you from talking back to your parents as a kid. On your later years, the respect that you gain towards your parents will prevent you from talking back.

Dont get me wrong, ive always respected my parents. But the fact was when i was a kid, they just didnt understand me. They would attempt to relate the time I was growing up to theirs. I told my friends things that my parents had not the slightest clue about. Y u may ask? because I felt distanced from them. Because they didnt respect my views at the time, and failed to treat me as a young adult. However, I guess I should thank them. Instead of learning from my own mistakes Im learning from theirs. Anyway, like I said before, talking to kids is just as effective if not more so.

Sgt>Stackem 03-10-2005 02:52 PM

talking doesnt always work. that is mt first method of attack but you have to rule the roost too. I feel I am very lucky because my kids will approach me and talk about many topics that I know other kids cant approach thier parents with

03-10-2005 03:09 PM

When i was 8-9 years old and i got out of line, i got spanked, simple as that. If i had bad grades, no TV and if they were really terrible then i got spanked. Always worked and i was a honor roll student from third grade on.

i'm sorry but i have to disagree with most of what you just said. im now 18, and i havent gotten spanked or hit in years by my parents. but back when i was 12 and younger, i did. and ill tell you it is alot more effective to do that then just yell at your kids. grouding them is another effective way, but spanking is the best. i never talked back to my parents and pretty much always listened to them because if i didnt i get smacked. talking is usually not effective at all imo

Doctor Duffy 03-10-2005 04:41 PM

I get spanked, and now have gotten so used to it, I fear being grounded more than being spanked. Then again, when I'm being spanked by my dad..jeeze.

I was the most annoying fucking brat I could imagine up until I was eight.

I was on a roadtrip with my parents and I was bitching about not getting enough chicken mcnuggets at the McDonalds we were at and my dad lost it and just socked me one in the chest.

All my teachers say I'm also one of the most well behaved kids they've ever had and that they wish most kids acted like I do in class.
