Portable Audio System Utilizing the MP3 Format
My mp3 player broke; r.i.p lyra, and now i'm in need of another. I need something that's 4gigs+. Anything above 10 is overkill. Needs to be small and easily controlled, seeing as how it will be resting and controlled in my pocket for the duration of its life. Any suggestions?
So far i've been liking these Zen Micro http://www.creative.com/products/produc ... duct=10795 IRiver H10 http://iriveramerica.com/prod/hd/h10_silver.aspx |

|
i own a mini and i do the same thing as you, it stays in my pocket and its perfect
|
I don't want an Ipod.

iRiver makes great products and amazing customer service from my experience. When my ihp-120 is obsolete I'll be buying from them again.
|
ive been looking too ... i dont know what the fuk to do ... im probably going to go with the Zen Micro...
that rio carbon looks pretty good too tho. |
My friend has a rio carbon and its not that bad for the price. i want something a bit different though. iriver looks pretty damn good but the button scheme looks weird to me. theres three buttons on the side of it, are those next, back and pause?
|
My zen micro ownz. Ipod mini is over priced.
|
milla quick question, is it just drag and drop through windows explorer when it comes to transferring files?

installing drivers sucks. i want one i can simply plug in anywhere i go, since ill only be using around 4 gigs of space. that extra 1 would be a nice replacement for a usb drive
|
Milla, the ipod mini is 199.99$, its less than the Zen Micro.

Woulda assumed an mp3 player would show up in mycomputer as a removable storage device and let you drag and drop anyway, its basically a portable harddrive with a built in media player so it should do. eek:
|
my friend has the iriver and it really nice. If i ever get one, I'll probably be buying the iriver. We used some headphone splitters for it so we could share 3 headphones in one jack and it still had amazing quality sound and volume (usually when you use a splitter the volume drastically lowers).
|
iriver is the most overprices P.O.S that ive seen...ffs they are asking 220$ for a 512mb one.
|
Zen micro you can find for 200....and it has a removable drive feature. You click "removable disk" and its a mini hard drive, and it asks how much you want to partition of the MP3 player 256, 512, 1 gig so on.

i can click and drag songs and .txt files from my computer to ipod

about 95% of mp3 player's work that way, as Gerv said. I hear alot of good about Ipod's, then I hear alot of bad. I hear ALOT of complaints towards sound quality, and the issue of short battery life. I need my music to sound as good as possible. If it sounds like shit, it will just ruin the music. |
I have no sound quality issues with my iPod. . .i might have gone for the others - but folks overcharge for them just as much as they do for the iPod. . .
the only reason to not like the iPod is the simple fact that it has less "features" on it then the other mp3 players do. But they are all the same - and itd be easier to sell the iPod than the other brands. |
I have a 20gig 4th gen i-pod and the suond quality is great even with the little POS headphones that came with it, also concerning battery life i'd say it lasts about 20 hours non-stop or so maybe a little longer.
|
the sound quality is fine, i can go through a day of school listening to it alot, and even when i go home, then let it recharge over night. have never had the battery run out on me

i agree. never never never had my battery run out and ive listened to it after i didnt charge it for weeks. sound quality is just as good as it gets. anti your crazy stupid: |
iPods have better sound quality than Zen Xtras. I have both and the iPod and much crisper and more saturated than the Zen.
Other than that I can't compare the sound quality to any other MP3 players. |
