Wowzers, i had no idea there was a huge volcano there.

harpua 03-20-2005 11:05 PM

bullshit, anythign likethat can be predicted, plus no, just no that is as much of a fuckovermadeforentertainment as that one thing about a 10.0 earthquake in LA, not fucking possible. made for your enjoyment, i bet the 'leading scientists' were 4th graders in the phillipines, the ones in the retarded class too.

newt. 03-20-2005 11:13 PM

we must consume more now that we know the end is coming. buy more, spend more, think less.

those earthquakes california had arent anything compared to what is supposed to happen to alaska, they are saying a 10.0 is supposed to happen, the 1964 earthquake made a tidal wave that reached california and it was a lil quake loney:

Obviously someone who speaks so intelligently is much better educated then any scientist in the world.

yellowstone has erupted 3 times. the last time it did it wiped out half of the us. this was back during the time of the dinosaurs. if it erupts i wil be fine down here in the south.

biggrin: ..it's true though, so called experts in any field should do themselves a
favour and run their ideas by the GF1 off topic forum first...sure, they'd be
made look foolish but they'd learn to think things through before going public.

Forte 03-21-2005 12:17 AM

sorry cant. i saw a program on the discovery chanel about 6 years ago abbout it.

Here us a link to the past eruptions and the area they covered[url:4a4df]http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/supervolcano/explorer/explorer.html[/url:4a4df] Here is some stuff that would change where this ash would go off the top of my head: Magentic pole change ( in both those times the magnetic poles were switch compared to where they are now, this will effect the spread of the ash) also the jet stream, depending on the time of year the jet tream will pull the ash farther east (watch out Nashville biggrin: ) Third we cant forget El Nino, if its an El Nino year that will also effect the outcome. This explosion, if it were to happen, would have the magnitude, in theory to trigger the Long Valley caldera in CA further triggering San Andreas and the Valles caldera in New Mexico and possibly but not likely trigger the chain of volcanoes and faultlines in Alaska. This my friends is called Chaos theory. The western coast is full of active and dormant volcanos as well as other siesmic activity. So one blows, they ALL blow. U think the tsunami that hit Indonesia was big? Try one that is 2000 miles long and has 5000+ miles to build intensity. Say goodbye to China, Japan, hell all of eastern Asia inlan to probably 100 miles, Australia and Oceania. Hey, we wont have to worry about Russia no more biggrin:

harpua 03-21-2005 08:20 AM

shit happens, we will live. besides the earth AND human population needs a good ole clean out, over populated and the land is being exhausted. so i say the earth needs something like this to get better.

Sniper101 03-21-2005 08:32 AM

Why do you think it would hit China biggrin: Maybe cuz its a communist country with HALF the worlds population ( roughly 3.2 Billion people)

mR.cLeAn 03-21-2005 08:41 AM

i'm out of the red area

Unknown_Sniper 03-21-2005 09:46 AM

f you guys who live in the blast area. Im pretty damn safe up here in New England. ID gladly take a winter of 100 feet of snow over a volcano blowing me up anyday. Lets not forget that the largest earthquak that happened over here in recent history was about a 1 on the R scale.
Also Having been to Yellow stone I know that it is one giant volcano. I was there for 3 days and there was an earth quake of decent size once and a couple small ones each day. I dont think Id go back there any time soon because of the fact its a volcano thats larger than a city.

Michael 03-21-2005 05:55 PM

the super in yellowstone isn't new news (to those who watch those kinds of specials on discovery/NGC). so yeah i saw the thing on it a while ago. i think its kinda funny that discovery is gonna make a movie on it lol

Ya, I'm pretty sure there was somthing in the news about increasing preasure under Yellowstone but that was a few months ago. I remember watching a video about the super volcanoes in my earth science class in my freshmen year and if I recall there are three of them world wide. I also remeber in the video it saying that each explosion at yellow stone became significantly smaller after one another but if it were to go off again it would affect world climate patterns and all that dooms day stuff.

Arkan 03-21-2005 06:05 PM

Thanks for the link.

If it were to happen, New England wouldn't be safe either. The climate would get screwed up globally causing all sorts of damage. Food would become scarce.

Unknown_Sniper 03-21-2005 06:06 PM

THe entire pacific ocean is practically a volcano.

Exactly, again it was somthing to the affect of when the super volcano explodes the ash will be shot up so high in the atmosphere it will stay there for months/years(?) and block out the sun killing off alot of plants and other life. So no matter what when or if that baby ever blows were all screwed.

[quote="Unknown_Sniper":7ebe8]THe entire pacific ocean is practically a volcano.[/quote:7ebe8]

Isn't the ring of fire in the pacific?

Unknown_Sniper 03-21-2005 06:13 PM

yes eek:

Sniper101 03-21-2005 06:56 PM

ya us here in New england would be safe from the actual blast, but in the 1800's i think it was a island blew up not far from iceland and it caused snow and esentially winter here in JULY! and the largest earthquake here in recent history was a 5.3 last year. the epicenter being near the border of VT and northern New York somewhere. i live right on a fault line with annual activity. But an explosion of that magnitude would distrupt the weather here A LOT. think el nino's a bitch, the explosion will make hell look like paradise here in New England
