Most magazines list the GT 500 as a serious competitor to the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. The only area which the GT 500 lacks is the quarter mile, with Ferrari, Lamborghini and the high-end Porsche Carrera at about 11-11.3 seconds on the 1/4 mile. I don't know where that $37,000 price came up from, but you're thinking about the regular 2005 Ford Mustang. Prices list the GT 500 at about $150,000.

Sergeant_Scrotum 03-27-2005 10:12 AM

While I agree the car looks goo,d I think the dodge charger SRT-8 looks meaner ed:

Gotta agree. I love the car but the front grill doesn't look quite right with the Cobra off-center. Maybe because the mesh of the grill is so plain. I think the regular Mustang looks alot better with the fog lights ... mainly because it fills the big black void of the grill.

Wow. Who gives a shit? You're never going to have a car as good or even remotely close to being as good as that and you're bitching about the symbol placement?

Where did you get the $150k price tag for the Shelby GT-500 from?? I just had my name placed on the waiting list at the dealership today for that car and it's going to cost me about $40k to play in the same league as the 'vette boys. You may be thinking of the Cobra concept car. I'll post pics either tomorrow or the following day from the show.

Chronic Diarrhea 03-28-2005 10:57 PM

I can't recall the name of the magazine, but I was reading it while I was at the doctor. It wasn't Dodge. It was under Ford, and only said GT 500. There were two others as well, the vanilla 2005 Mustang and the Mustang Cobra. The GT 500 was $147,000 and the others were about $40,000.

Arkan 03-30-2005 12:48 PM

Ok, Arkan went to the Auto show in NY yesterday and saw his future "new" car. It's going to be a long 18 months !!!

Ok, here's the 450+ HP 'Stang

Shelby Cobra

That uses the same frame as the GT40 and is in the 150,000 dollar range. I have the motortrend that it was in sitting on my desk.

Short Hand 03-30-2005 02:03 PM

If you buy it arkan, dont go cheap on it in any way, full leather, best rims offered with it go all out.

Arkan 03-30-2005 02:13 PM

Here's the $150k Cobra Chronic was talking about. Seems he got a bit confused over the "Cobra" name. I should refrain from mentioning the "cobra" name in the same sentence. The mustang is known as the "Shelby GT-500 Mustang"

Cobra ($150k)

si it just me or does that look like it might be supercharged? I havent read tooo much about it but I dont remember hearing about a supercharger in there. IT might jsut be a big ass air intake.

Chronic Diarrhea 03-30-2005 02:31 PM

Okay. The way the magazine listed it made it look like they weren't talking about the Shelby Cobra. I was wondering how the new Ford Mustangs could cost $150,000, and I didn't know why a $40,000 car would be able to rival other $300,000 cars in performance. Sorry. wallbash:

You are correct. The Shelby GT-500 'Stang has the supercharged 5.4L engine. It's the same engine that's in the Ford GT except it's "de-tuned" to around 450+ HP.

150 dollars for a v10 roadster with no options seems incredibly steep and outrageously overpriced plzdie:

Those are some nice shots you got arkan, i myself will be looking forward to the redesigned GTO in 2006 rock:
