White House and Capitol building evacuated...

Fighter jets have been seen in the air, cars were seen racing away from the White House. No link needed, check the usual sources.

negative 05-11-2005 11:31 AM

after that grenade was thrown at Bush, and the same day they passed the National ID Act.

ninty 05-11-2005 11:36 AM

It was a cesna. Big deal. And of course everyone runs away with this.

It'll be on CNN, FOX, MSNBC all day.

Why are you so jacked that the white house being evacuated makes the news? Cesna or not they took the right steps.

Just like those 747s in New York were probably just innocently running a bit off course rolleyes: Your comments never cease to amaze me in their pure ignorance of everything. I'm sure you couldnt fit a bomb is a cesna right? Suitcases, duffle bags, cars.. sure, but not a plane.

ninty 05-11-2005 01:05 PM

There is a big difference between a 747 hijacked by terrorists, and a single prop cessna.

Anyway, you missed my point. My beef is not with the response. If there is a plane that is in violation of air space, scramble fighters. That is a correct response. The problem is the media picks up on the story and just furthers the fearmongering the government already does. This story is a non issue. It shouldn't even be on the news right now. There are much more important things going on in the world that deserve media attention, that get none, yet all the news channels will stay on this story all day long.

Wait... you're annoyed that this story will be on the news all day? My mind is boggled on how that could possibly affect/annoy you? Its either this or some other crappy filler news or more car bombings in Iraq... thats the news for you.. if you let every stupid story annoy you... well... you'd be extremely annoyed.

ninty 05-11-2005 01:23 PM

It's not one story, it's all stories. It's the fact that main stream media does nothing but shovel piles of bullshit into homes every day. Media has a responsibility to the people to serves as a check and balance on government actions, corporations actions and other ways people are affected. Media has a responsibility to investigate and report, not give opinions and sway the public. All I see is Left vs. Right screaming at each other, and news stories that have no bearing on anyone whatsoever.

Example: Terry Schiavo and the run away bride. If this is news, i'm Willy Wonka.

And yes, it does annoy me, and that is why I try my best to avoid watching or reading any american cable news.

Most of the news I get comes from the CBC, BBC and other independent news sources on the internet.

You're crazy if you think the bbc and cbc arent biased...

ninty 05-11-2005 01:35 PM

Edit: you took out the open your eyes part.

And I said nothing about them not being biased. However, their reports are a lot more substantial than CNN FOX and all the rest. CBC and BBC still hardly report on anything controvertial. I watch CBC for Canadian news, and the BBC for world news. Independent sites share a lot of information that never make it to any major news network.

Yeah it came out harsher than I meant it to...

Eh... I wont argue that our networks in the states are worse than the bbc and cbc, but its all relative.. Nothing in this world is impartial it seems.

ehh... recent events in the middle easy have brought out their biases. They are obviously against what the US is doing and would like to keep the region as it had been.

I actually agree with you.

I would say that Al Jazera is the least biased new source in the Middle East for sure.

However, it has been pegged as an anti US propaganda machine.

Short Hand 05-11-2005 06:45 PM

a CESNA IS NOT A FUCKING 747. thank you and good fucking night. Just 2 idiots forgetting where they are. Now it is time for the mass media to suck this one dry of cash.

Nyck 05-11-2005 07:03 PM

why dont all you fucking cock suckers shut the fuck up. Guess what mother fuckers...the US of A doesnt fuck around anymore after 9/11. The world that WE live in has changed. Planes were used to Kill people, REGARDLESS OF SIZE. You fly a plane near the white house, your ass is going down.

seems many of you forgot about 1994 Alot of you were like fucking 7-8 years old

"On Sept. 12, 1994, a pilot died when he crashed a small plane on the South Lawn of the White House. Steering a Cessna stolen from a Maryland airport, Frank Eugene Corder, an unemployed truck driver and an unlicensed pilot, flew into the prohibited airspace over the White House in the wee hours of that morning. Corder was killed when he dove the Cessna toward the mansion, crashing it on the South Lawn. His plane hit a tree on the steps of the South Portico, as well as a first-floor corner of the White House. President Clinton and his family were not in the mansion at the time. "

Kthx and stfu.
