Class Dissection Of Live Dog Outrages Parents, Students
[quote="[url=http://www.local6.com/news/4480144/detail.html:80f96]Local6.com[/url:80f96]":80f96]
Student: 'It Just Makes Me Sick...' A biology class lesson in Gunnison, Utah involving the dissection of a live dog has outraged some parents and students, according to a report. "I thought that it would be just really a good experience if they could see the digestive system in the living animal," Biology teacher Doug Bierregaard said. Biology teacher Doug Bjerregaard, who is a substitute teacher at Gunnison Valley High School, wanted his students to see how the digestive system of a dog worked. Bjerregaard made arrangements for his students to be a part of a dissection of a dog that was still alive. The dog was still alive, but the teacher said it was sedated before the dissection began. With the students watching, the sedated dog's digestive system was removed. "It just makes me sick and I don't think this should go on anywhere and nobody's learning from it," student Sierra Sears said. The teacher said the lesson would allow students to see the organs actually working. "I thought that it would be just really a good experience if they could see the digestive system in the living animal," Bierregaard said. The school's principal, Kirk Anderson, said notifications went to parents explaining the dog was going to be euthanized and that the experiment would be done with the dog's organs still functioning. The teacher is standing by his decision and calls it the ultimate educational experience. Principal Anderson said he supports the lesson and it will be allowed to continue because the students are learning. The dog used in the experiment was going to be euthanized despite the class project. Watch Local 6 News for more on this story. what the fuck asshole...lets sedated this fucking subsititute teacher and dissect his live digestive system after he eats a bowl of fuck yous.
ps what the fuck is a substitue teacher doing that shit for...they are supposed to sit there and hand out some busy worksheets |
Goddamnit how do people get away with this shit
|
wow thats aweful......how the hell did he get away with that...i mean the students doing it and all...thats terrible

1. The dog lived.
2. The dog was sedated. 3. The dog was about to be put to sleep. 4. it is a biology class. 5. What is so wrong about it ? we watch ER type shows with live surgery action all the time... I really see no problem, the teacher is being proactive and actaully teaching the kids. |

how bout we dont do it all. do you think any of them give a fuck about a figestive system...check it out in the textbook. I never disected shit in school. No frogs , nothing. most we ever did was in 5th grade put a bike pump in a cow heart to make it beat. I mean wtf...you want to see disection, take a trip down to the fucking mourge, same difference. |
in biology we disected
-worms -frogs -pig fetuses -watched a human corpse get done at a local mourge -a plant.. (weird i know). I don't see the problem, infact I found it very educational. |
It's a biology class.
PS: Get over it. |
I don't agree with that.
I don't think the problem is having the kids see that, rather the dog being alive during the process. If they want to do things like that on dogs, thats fine, but use a dog that has already been put down. There's no need to use a live dog. I would definitely have a problem with this if this happened in one of my classes. I don't think i've ever heard of a bioliogy class that uses live subjects. |
Haha, thats funny...
...our Science teacher just resigned (with 12 days of school left..) so we've had a sub for a while, and we're going to actually open up pigs and peer inside them within the next week. Im gonna puke.. |

"It was about a three-minute procedure involving abdominal surgery. It was done under general anesthetic. It was an aggressive and abandoned dog. It was not fit to be adopted," Anderson said. The dog was put to sleep after the procedure."

eat my fucking cock. how bout we take your next relative whos body has been ravaged by cancer or some other disease and we sedate them and then we disect them while they are still alive to check out whats happened to his insides..hmph? so it was an abandoned aggressive dog, just euthenize it....we dont slice up prisoners before they are executed. |

in the generality of things...no its not. Both breathe and live. As a matter of fact, I believe a humans insides would probably be more educational than some dogs. Call up your local warden, lets bring in the abandoned aggressive prisoners and sedate and slice dance: |

Do it to some serial killer, and dont sedate him just tie him up |
Nyck you’re about a few centuries of evolution and several chromosomes off. Dogs are nowhere near the same as a human being.
If you wanted to get very general YES we are the same, in the sense we are organic, mammals. Other than that we are Homosapians they are Dogs. Note: Big diffrence between a Human and Dog disection, we do disect humans but only dead ones. Why? Because humans can think and object to it, dogs however can't object to it nor can they comprehed the situation. |
This would be a great way to dispose of child rapists

I don't agree with it either. Most pupils won't carry on doing biology, its just mandatory to know the basics so sticking to plants, rats and wasp's butts should suffice.
A living dog or a dead dog is too much in my opinion and should only be for advanced classes in Universities. Maybe parents permission should've been asked for, those pupils may be scarred for life in a way and won't forget it in a hurry... Thats like getting a sedated Sgt. Duffy and getting kids to practice the art of goatse on him whilst he was asleep, finding out what the inner ass looks like......for medical purposes oOo: |

all we did were : Worms, sheep eyes, and HUGE earth worms like 1.5 feet long
|
i dissected a frog and the anatomy classes had cats. thing is, all the specimens were DEAD. the fuckin nerve this fucknut has to dissect an animal while its alive just to show some low level earth science students a moving digestive system. that is animal cruelty and very uneccesary.

haha we did those earth worms. and frogs. |
we're dissecting a fetal pig now in AP Bio, its pretty disgusting. its been in fremaldahyde all year in the back of the room in a big sealed bucket. now its in two plastic bags in a drawer. my partner and I named our pig Napoleon, from Animal Farm. i couldnt imagine dissecting a live animal....thats just wrong.
