text sucks imo
cool original pic. where'd you get it?
If you work on the text it would be good.
Yeah its pretty good... just work on the text.
let me tell you, it's tough to pull off the right text. Be cool and just get rid the text all together. Either that or find someone to help you. Other than that, it looks great.

Sniper, Text is one of those things that EVERYONE has a problem with to start with, and it can be one of the hardest hurdles to overcome. I used a few sigs with great text to guide me into my style: Things like this were running around at the time, and I watched what fonts and effects were being used as a starting place.... I also spent some time at LW, and got some tips from Arch...thats probably why I'm fond of pixal fonts, lol. But, the trick to master is "the right font, for the right sig" to include proper size and effect. Some sigs are better with no text at all. I'll post some tips if your interested, but most of it is just ballance and good font choice. |
great piece but as said about the text. listen to toberierius ^ or just use it without the text
post some tuts for text that would help me greatly
if you think it doesnt looks good ( text graphics whatever ) it probably doesnt ... so go with that and keep trying stuff until you come up with something you like. ... the text mightve worked if you left it solid instead of trans. i think it still might work if you try it solid. 1 is the better postion.

easily. just copy the text and paste it again so there is 2 layers of it, then Layer>Rasterize>Type the behind layer, then use that layer and smudge it with the smudge tool along with using the shift key down to keep the line straight. Play around with the strength of the smudge to get it right |
you can also do it with the blur filters using the same rast copy paste thing el mentioned.

Blur/Motion effect is just as simple as Judas & Static mentioned. Duplicate layer + blur. Season to taste. Font choice is always important, but here is a good example of color use: You'll notice that the text colors choosen are colors from the sig. Gold and Silver from the two helments. It adds a little flavor to the text, and blends well because the colors are from the source pics. I get the exact color by using the "eyedropper" tool. Now, I like pixel fonts because they are very clear at small sizes, and I often like to add small "extra" text for effect. Here is an example of a pixel font with a blue outer glow.... However, I set the outer glow to disolve: I like to make my colors blend well, and flow with each other...expecially when I want my sig to work as a single "whole" image. I like to use an "advertisement" style... look at the label of those chips next to your keyboard for an example, lol. Here is another use of color based on the colors in the sig, except with this one, I simply turned the second pixel text upside-down (Ctrl + T) That's all pretty basic, but you can use that kind of stuff in a thousand different ways. Here are a few more complex concepts: You can apply a gradient or texture to your text, but the inside effects work best on large and thick text. They are availible in what I call the "F" button: But, No matter how good the effect, Font chioce and placement makes or breaks text http://www.dafont.com Download lots and use a variety. The better you know them, the better you will be able to realize what works best in each case. I use lots of fonts...even though I do use plenty of pixel fonts, I'm always consious of whether or not the font belongs. |
thanks for the tuts... cant find any of em like it on the web. +1
