Would you vote for a woman?

Yes or no. Let's ignore what party they would be in. If they have the same credentials as a man ... would you vote for them?

Why, or why not?

Here are a few arguements that i will throw out the window:

She's on her rag ... i've lived with 3 woman all my life and yes they can get pissy, but they still can function.

She could get pregnant ... Who in their right mind would get pregnant during their term? Thats just rediculous.

Some legitimate points could be other countries that are still male dominated wouldn't give her respect, etc...

Stammer 06-16-2005 11:54 AM

Sure, if they were a good canidate.

We need a Female, Black, Jewish, Disabled, Homosexual, Shemale President.

i dont think she would get the sort of respect that a man would if she were president ... not many world leaders are women and i think thats the reason . politics is a rich mans game.

Trunks 06-16-2005 05:22 PM

yes of course. This is america after all. If i liked what I saw, and was optimistic about what she could do for the country then why the hell not? Im not here to judge her based on gender, im here to judge her based on if she would make a good president. That goes for blacks, mexicans, arabs, immigrants, homos, trans, etc etc. I dont care about any of that. I care about what positive changes they can institute while in office. And I am really danm surprised that people who proudly call themselves americans tend to forget the reasons why this country was founded. For freedom. Freedom.

Don't forget about Poland!

that made me lol

In this day in age, I would not vote for a female president (if it was a toss up between a great male and a great female). Yeah, America could definately cope with a female leader, but I'm not sure about the rest of the world. I have nothing against women and politics, but I sure do know that other countries do. With arab and asian relations being key in our foreign policy, I do think a male would get more respect by foreign countries.

Now if the rest of the world started to change like North America in their judgment about females, I would have no problem voting for a woman.

i guess u do have a point, but then again, does that mean we should not elect jews, since many arab countries hate em, and homos because it is against their religion i believe, into office? All because we are afraid to worsen our relations with these countries?

Coleman 06-16-2005 05:51 PM

if you look at america's voting history, I think all of the presidents have a "pretty damn white" heritage. They have that German-Hungarian, Irish, German, English?, etc.

and trunks, I do believe that we should pick the 'straight, white, male' as president AS LONG AS they have the same credentials. Now if the lesbo candidate seemed better fit for the position, there is a fine line of how much you will sacrifice to place your vote for her. I don't think any of us can definatively make that disctinction. Alot of it has to due with the residing circumstances of the time.

Colonel 06-16-2005 08:15 PM

I already have...kinda. I voted for Walter Mondale when Geraline Ferraro was his vice-presidential running mate.

RodneyKing 06-16-2005 08:27 PM

Condi rice will be first black president, sad but its the truth

and we if we dems dont vote for her, the repubs will play the race card, just like they did during her cabinet nomination

Tripper 06-16-2005 08:51 PM

It's been nearly a decade since we've had a male Prime Minister and we've had two different female P.M's in a row (Both of our major parties, National and Labour - Our 'Democrats' and 'Republicans' - have had a female prime minister in parliment) - I have to say, I'm pretty content with our government, and our leader. She's very good at what she does and constantly makes the right decisions - I'm especially proud of the foreign policy she has chosen for our country. I'll be voting for her, and probably The Labour Party as well, based on how well they've done so far. I have no major gripes at all about my government.

As a leader, there are just too many restrictions, too much red tape and too many other people with input for something so trivial to have an effect on a country as a whole(Unless you're living in a dictatorship).....So I hardly think if a female leader is on the rag, that she is going to start a war. That's just a misogynistic excuse.....(Not saying anyone that proposes the notion is a myisgonyst, but if you truly believe the idea with a calculated opinion, well then....)

Does the thought of a Women and a black man in office scare the living shit out of you ? biggrin:

RodneyKing 06-18-2005 04:52 PM

i agree with coleman on this one short, no offense. maybe a couple more terms and the world would be more accepting, and also, do they represent america?

thats the question, i dont really have a problem with obama (except he voted for condi) or hillary but i wouldnt want them as the canidates for the democratic party.. the sad thing is that if the DFL wants to win, they need more 'normal' canidates, and a better campaign but thats another argument.

Pyro 06-18-2005 05:48 PM

I would vote for them if it means the conservatives don't win the election.

Machette 06-18-2005 09:40 PM

To tell you the truth seeing what Margaret Thatcher did to Britain I've lost all hopes in seeing a women in office. But women are known to be morally superior than men, so if it comes to solving conflicts..they are not quick to jump on the war wagon..I'm pretty much a fence sitter on this issue because of its complexity.

It'll be interesting to have a black president.

Johnj 06-23-2005 11:14 AM

Depends on the woman.

TiberiusAD 06-23-2005 02:02 PM

Absolutely.

I think that any person race/gender aside with enough intelligence and abillity could serve the office. Great leaders are not judged by sex & race... or sexual preference or religion for that matter.

imported_Fluffy_Bunny 06-28-2005 02:05 PM

one of the finest leaders this country has seen imho

id vote for her if she was in politics now, Maggie Thatcher had balls.

Madmartagen 06-28-2005 03:43 PM

if i think she would do a good job, then yeah i would.

Merlin122 06-28-2005 04:41 PM

all depends on what they stand for. They could be darth vader or mon mothma and if they still stood for what i wanted, i'd vote for them.

it didnt work for Michigan, somehow Jennifer Granhlom got elected as Governor. First I dont like a foreigner holding office (she is Canadian) and all she has done is raise every damn tax we have. Plus she allows so much Canadian trash into this state it is unreal.

and then there is "the mole"
